How to Coil Cables

skinnydaddy1 says...

Yep, worked at an event center. Sound guy was a complete pain in the ass when it came to coiling up cables. Don't know how many times I got to hear "Your doing it wrong"
Went off on him one night. "I just assembled 3 stages and moved 18 floor units. I'm tired. If your that f$#$ worried about the cables get off your fat ass and do them yourself."
Got fired the next day because "We hired him away from So and So and he said your hard to work with...."
hehe A few days later they call back going "He just quit and stormed out! can you.." "Nope" click

How to Coil Cables

charliem says...

The BEST reason for doing this....is running cable out.
Throw a properly coiled cable while holding onto one end, it it goes exactly where you want it to, dead straight.

Try that with an improperly coiled cable, and it will sit on the floor still with giant kinks in it, and it wont unravel properly, will be a general bitch to undo the innevitable knots in it.

Imperative Reaction - Severed (AMV)

Snohw says...

Industrial? hmm perhaps, not really into it very much since it's either german (what are they speaking!?) or horrible non-german bands
So don't have a larger sense of the genre tho i'd say this is hanging between synth/ebm and industrial. Einsturzende Neubauten is clearly industrial for a comparison.

But on the clear synth / ebm-electronic side OP, if you like this band you could always check out:
Icon of Coil
and
Covenant if you haven't heard them already.

Write unintelligible and nonsensical letters to congressmen and senators with return addresses from any and all intelligence apparatus

Wear (at least once a week) a crisp, company-man suit with that little white coiled communications wire dangling out of an ear and walk around in federal buildings and court houses....(Make sure the slacks are ass-less)

Subvert, misdirect, confuse, stifle and incinerate the insects that hold the reigns of this shitstorm factory of servers-

Attend open sessions of congress and laugh manically whenever anyone starts speaking. ABOUT ANYTHING-Bring a hundred people with you...

There's all sorts of effectual mayhem to take part in, your "vote" at this particular stage in the game, means FUCK-ALL

Hatin' On The Westboro Baptist Church

VoodooV says...

stop feeding the RL trolls. seriously, they feed off the attention.

Fred Phelps is not long for this earth. Shirley Phelps is not getting any younger either.

Once those guys are shuffled off this mortal coil and/or arrested, I suspect the church will fracture and die. The two chuckleheads in that video are just followers, and without the leaders. The whole thing will be like a bad hangoer.

On the upside though, Despising the WBC is one of the few things the left and the right can actually agree on, there is that common ground now

Ever try tricking the boiler/heater - Peep Show

rottenseed says...

I work in commercial heating ventilating and air conditioning. I can confirm this is true.

It's a bit more complicated when you bring modulating control valves that control the flow of the water through the coils. In the case of water, the change in heat is a function of the flow (gpm or l/m) and the change in water temp that the boiler can handle.

It's also a function of the amount of air you blow through the coil. Each of these (flow, temp change, boiler capacity, and air flow) are parameters with which you design your system to.

Also, in a residential setup, I don't think fan speed is variable, and I think the HHW control valves just open and close.

In what way ?

Hot water radiators (possibly the type in this skit) are powered by circulating hot water from a boiler. the water only gets to a certain temperature and then is dispursed through the pipes of the building.

The water stops flowing when the room itself/thermometer registers that the air temperature is what you want it to be.

The water/radiator does not heat up quicker if you jack the temperature on the dial, the water just flows longer to heat the air up longer. The water is at a constant temperature, unless you have a shit boiler/water heater.

Electrics might be different, well they are actually when they have settings like 500 watt 1000 watt and 1500 watt settings. But in apartments it all depends on what the thermostat reads.

Now I wonder if your comment was facetious...

Forgetful Driver of the Day

GeeSussFreeK says...

Sigh, I actually did this once. I didn't drive off with it in my car, but I pulled away without taking it out. There is a breakaway hose joint on them apparently, because it was completely intact and disconnected at this very deliberate looking area. I was completely embarrassed, so much so, that I couldn't even face the attendant (I was pretty young), I just coiled it up next to the pump and drove off. I think I am so crazy now I would mount it like a deer head.

But it makes a godawful sound, I can't imagine not noticing it and driving off into the sunset.
