Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: LGBT Discrimination
Not trying to avoid. Being black and being gay are different. One is a choice and a sin, religiously speaking. . The other is just being.
From a mom and pop business point of views:
The gay cake guy decision is based on Religious grounds. That like demanding a Muslim to serve you a pork sandwich and a beer. Denying on these grounds is acceptable. His house his rules.
The black couple can"t change their color ( unless you are a Jackson) . I do not believe there is discrimination / sin for being a different color in the Bible.
To say some are born gay I do not buy. I do agree to a point that some men are born less manly and lean into the gay lifestyle. Same for women.
From a GOD point why would GOD allow this? I do not know. All he does is provide you a choice to accept and follow or reject. WE all get judged.
Can I stand here and say I am better than a gay or a gay couple. No I can not. I sin like everyone else, I just call sin for being sin. I just don't try to change the standard ( the Bible) to suit my lifestyle.
Why should you be forced to serve someone who represents the opposite for which you stand? That would be like hiring an MSNBC who writes pro liberal articles for hire and then asking to hire Chris Hayes , Al Sharpton to write a pro Conservative piece. Then sue when they refuse. That is what is being done to cake makers and such who refuse gays.
You're avoiding the question.
No-one is saying you can't deny an individual service if they are being abusive.
I'm talking about a perfectly polite gay couple who want a cake for their wedding. If you believe that it's ok to deny them service based purely on their sexuality, then you must agree that it's fine to deny a black couple based purely on their race.
So you're either a racist or a hypocrite.... which is it?
Rula Jebreal discusses the Gaza ‘media war’ (All In)
I'm conflicted... I do agree with her, there is certainly more time given to the Israelis giving out their version of what is happening, but it also seems like she's wasting her opportunity to talk about the Palestinian side of things and it's spinning into a story about the coverage and putting attention on her.
Chris Hayes is likely being honest in that it is hard to find any "official" to speak for the Palestinian side. Since it's not a unified group, the government in Gaza doesn't seem to be involved, just Hamas fighters.

the newsroom-the truth about television news
Yup, look at Chris Hayes' show... Informed, measured commentary and detailed analysis on important news stories that aren't part of the usual cable news hype factory. And he's getting absolutely destroyed in the ratings. And, to tell you the truth, as much as I appreciate his show, and as much as I like to think of myself as a discerning and sophisticated consumer of media, I don't think I could watch him regularly. Too boring.
Nice sentiment. Too bad they'd go bankrupt IRL.
Individuals want facts and "real" news, differing opinions and "pure" knowledge.
People want their beliefs reinforced, good to triumph over evil, and -every now and then- a cute picture of a cat.

Cenk Loses his Shit on former Republican Senator Bob McEwen
>> ^messenger:
That Yes or No part was silly. A politician can't make promises like that, and to conclude that the answer must be yes is unfair. I'm glad Cenk went back to his YouTube-only format. Reading scripts to a camera is not his way.
That said, he still has some stupid arguments with guests on his YT show. Case in point: http://videosift.com/video/TYT-pratt-defends-zimmerman-and-cenk-loses-
it. IMO that interview was much worse. I wish he wouldn't do that. It takes away his credibility.>> ^Sotto_Voce:
On his internet show, Cenk used to have good debates with conservatives because he would remain calm and allow them to speak while still putting forward his case forcefully. You really got a sense that he was interested in having a conversation rather than using his guest as a foil for his own argument. See his interview of John Ziegler, for instance.
Now it seems like he's decided that the way to make it on cable TV is to turn into a liberal version of O'Reilly, and that's sad. Take, for instance, his ridiculous "ANSWER THE QUESTION! YES OR NO!" tactic. I hate that. There are often answers that are more complicated than just a straight yes or a no, and to demand that they be simplified just encourages a dumbing down of the discourse. I'm on Cenk's side on the substance here, but his style was really annoying.
Jesus, that is a horrible interview. But it looks like that's from his Current TV show, so it's consistent with my "TV is ruining Cenk" hypothesis. I never thought he was a particularly profound analyst, but AFAIK he wasn't always this ridiculous. I really think he's deliberately going down the route of garnering attention by providing red meat for the base. Maybe that is the way to be successful on cable news, but it's still pathetic.
Honestly, are there any good hosts on cable news? Maddow is pretty smart, but her constant snark is a little grating. Lawrence O'Donnell does the whole outrage thing a bit too much, although he does it infinitely better than Cenk. I like the format of Chris Hayes' new show a lot, but he really comes across as a smarmy tool. The best I can think of is Fareed Zakaria. Anderson Cooper is decent too, but he covers too much fluff.
VideoSift's SOPA/PIPA Response (Sift Talk Post)
Copyright infringement ≠ Stealing.
Media conglomerates like nbc want us to think that infringement should be equated to theft, even though it isn't. But we all know that already.
