Girl Does 21 Different Accents
Yeah, the common accent in Charleston doesn't sound remotely like this one. It sounds more Hollywood.
There is another Charleston accent that's a bit more aristocratic. Jessica Tandy's accent in Driving Miss Daisy is a close approximate. She should rent that movie and watch it a bit.
Girl Does 21 Different Accents
Her Charleston accent is ridiculous as well. It sounds as if it's modeled on Scarlett O'Hara.
Walk It Out!!!
gorgonheap, thanks for letting me know the daft punk charleston vid has already been posted. It was going to be one of my next sifts.
Walk It Out!!!
HAHA love it reminds me of the synced up daft punk meets the charleston vid.
Why we are not ready to leave Iraq
Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
Looked like one of them was doing a soft shoe Charleston.
The Sundays - Here's Where The Story Ends
upvote way up! This group's music is closely associated with a chick-flickesque period in my personal history.

It was in the mid 90's and it involved my future husband, myself,Charleston S.C.,Japan,"the other",a baby, some really bad timing,a marriage, years of heartache,a divorce, really good timing,a marriage...and best of all.... a really really happy ending
Cop "assaults" skateboarder
That will cost the city of Charleston thousands, and rightly so. Cops should be held responsible for their actions, Always! Power trippin' assholes!

A tad bit of Charleston trivia here in this "thread" lol: http://www.videosift.com/video/The-Thornbirds-What-About-Love
Do you still live in Chas? I've lived there a couple of times, and miss it to this day.
Dancing the Charleston to Daft Punk
That's Al Minns and Leon James.
One reason it syncs up is that swing jazz and electronica are both 4/4 time music. Same time signature, same bars to the phrase; same lots of things.
One reason it doesn't quite sync is that sometimes Charleston phrases start on the 1 (as in 1, 3, 5, 7) and sometimes they - like tap - start on the 8. Watch the Precision Charleston routine that starts around -0:43. I learned that routine a year or two ago and - well, I'm a little fuzzy now - but I think we danced it on 8.
Anyway, the music and dancing is a little off, but it's pretty dang tight considering the video clip is 50-60 years old.

The Sandpeople of the Kalahari Hunting without Weapons!
This reminds me of when I walked to the MinuteMart down the block last night. Got a two-liter of Diet Coke, some chips, and a Charleston Chew. I think it goes without saying that I was utterly exhausted when I got home. Yep, kinda reminds me of that...
judson laipply: evolution of dance
And the Charleston, and the Shag... yeah, he scrimped on the early days of dance... still, 50 years of the lamest dance moves in just about 6 minutes, pretty damn funny... the best part though is that he never seems to really break much of a sweat.
