Wikileaks - U.S. Apache killing civilians in Baghdad

thumpa28 says...

@ Raaagh

This is exactly the bullshit double speak that the average no-brainer 'wow i just saw a video and it was bad, therefore the whole country is baaaad' crap that makes internet discussions of this type of thing as pointless as the pre-pubescent dick swinging between your legs. So you agree that 'sanctions were bad' k, but 'the UN acted on behalf of the US'. Do you have any clue about the UN at all? About the decades of antagonism with the US, its complete paralysis during the cold war, through massive ethnic cleansing in bosnia where UN peacekeepers sat and watched and pretty much for every conflict ever since? Do you even comprehend the furore that currently exists around the UK and US interpretation of the UN mandate which was by no means a clear signal for war? No you dont, you probably dont know what UN stands for.

As for it being irrelevant, youre right - in your little video world the UN was nowhere in that shot so you havent been told an opinion on it yet. I could talk about 2007 and how the rules of engagement developed to the point the americans wouldnt fire until they had double confirmation of weapons because of incidents like this, about the brits blown up by american friendly fire and what a terrible waste of life war is generally and about a thousand other things that make the off the hand bullshit comments about 'OMG arent the americans evil' from a single clip only worthwhile on places like digg and videosift, but youre right - im not at that level. You sit on your fat consumerist arse and dont give a toss about where that keyboard you type on comes from, where the packaging it was wrapped in is now poisoning entire villages in china who burn it for 5p a sack, nah you just chucked it away. Well this war was fought to keep you in that idiot lifestyle of waste we all live in here in the west and at least i can see it, whereas you call it irrelevant. In all fairness you didnt see it in that video so how would you be expected to use the resource that is the internet for more than just typing crap in your short attention span world.

If its any consolation know i dont give a toss about your opinion, because by this time next week the top sift will be a rabbit that can chew a carrot with its arse and youll be saying its the most amazing this youve ever seeeeennn!!111!!!!

What Islam Isn't
By Dr. Peter Hammond
FrontPageMagazine.com | Monday, April 21, 2008
The following is adapted from Dr. Peter Hammond's book: Slavery, Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat:

Islam is not a religion nor is it a cult. It is a complete system.

Islam has religious, legal, political, economic and military components. The religious component is a beard for all the other components.

Islamization occurs when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their so-called 'religious rights.'

When politically correct and culturally diverse societies agree to 'the reasonable' Muslim demands for their 'religious rights,' they also get the other components under the table. Here's how it works (percentages source CIA: The World Fact Book (2007)).

As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness:

United States -- Muslim 1.0%
Australia -- Muslim 1.5%
Canada -- Muslim 1.9%
China -- Muslim 1%-2%
Italy -- Muslim 1.5%
Norway -- Muslim 1.8%

At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs:

Denmark -- Muslim 2%
Germany -- Muslim 3.7%
United Kingdom -- Muslim 2.7%
Spain -- Muslim 4%
Thailand -- Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population.

They will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply. ( United States ).

France -- Muslim 8%
Philippines -- Muslim 5%
Sweden -- Muslim 5%
Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3%
The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5%
Trinidad &Tobago -- Muslim 5.8%

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world but to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions ( Paris --car-burnings). Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats ( Amsterdam - Mohammed cartoons).

Guyana -- Muslim 10%
India -- Muslim 13.4%
Israel -- Muslim 16%
Kenya -- Muslim 10%
Russia -- Muslim 10-15%

After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning:
Ethiopia -- Muslim 32.8%

At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare:

Bosnia -- Muslim 40%
Chad -- Muslim 53.1%
Lebanon -- Muslim 59.7%

From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels:

Albania -- Muslim 70%
Malaysia -- Muslim 60.4%
Qatar -- Muslim 77.5%
Sudan -- Muslim 70%

After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide:

Bangladesh -- Muslim 83%
Egypt -- Muslim 90%
Gaza -- Muslim 98.7%
Indonesia -- Muslim 86.1%
Iran -- Muslim 98%
Iraq -- Muslim 97%
Jordan -- Muslim 92%
Morocco -- Muslim 98.7%
Pakistan -- Muslim 97%
Palestine -- Muslim 99%
Syria -- Muslim 90%
Tajikistan -- Muslim 90%
Turkey -- Muslim 99.8%
United Arab Emirates -- Muslim 96%

100% will usher in the peace of 'Dar-es-Salaam' -- the Islamic House of Peace -- there's supposed to be peace because everybody is a Muslim:

Afghanistan -- Muslim 100%
Saudi Arabia -- Muslim 100%
Somalia -- Muslim 100%
Yemen -- Muslim 99.9%

Americans are cowards. (Horrorshow Talk Post)

enoch says...

oh this post just fucking pissed me off.
i have long refused to suckle at the giant teat of iranian propaganda, and what is happening to the common people who are protesting is egregious in its violence.maybe americans and british should pay attention, this might be foreshadowing.
on it own, this post would be noble, even praiseworthy, but to call americans cowards?
bold words coming from a panty waist sitting in his boxers typing on a keyboard.
sad thing is,i actually agree that consumerism=slavery.that most americans have no clue.
but thats not COWARDICE,thats IGNORANCE,get your nouns right dipshit.
so..

do you think it is ONLY in iran,or palestine, chechnya, bosnia, somolia etc etc where horrendous violent acts against humans happens?
do you think america is soley responsible?
while america for the past 50 years has been the greatest aggregator of violence and bloodshed for global hegemony.you think they did it ALONE?
FUCK...your stupidity is making my brain hurt..how can you arbitrarily blame a countries people?
the network of elites who use their money, power and influence to perpetuate their own status quo at the cost of the majority is nothing new to human history.
for FUCKS sake boy! it was the AMERICAN PEOPLE who stopped the vietnam war!!
but it was only when the truth of the war, fair and honest reporting, and the revelation of the gulf of tonkin came out.
so instead of sitting at your chair and feeling clever, maybe you should take the time to consider that you admonish a people who just DONT KNOW.
what i DO know is that you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about.

Hamas in their own Voices

Farhad2000 says...

That would be true if Hamas solely sold terrorism and a fight against occupation, but Hamas also provide social services for the people of Palestine and has constructed schools and hospitals to achive this aim. From Wiki:

Hamas also runs extensive social programs and has gained popularity in Palestinian society by establishing hospitals, education systems, libraries and other services throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Hamas' charter calls for the recapturing of the State of Israel and its replacement with a Palestinian Islamic state in the area that is now named Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip. Hamas describes its conflict with Israel as political and not religious or antisemitic. However, its founding charter, writings, and many of its public statements reflect the influence of antisemitic conspiracy theories.

Hamas's political wing has won many local elections in Gaza, Qalqilya, and Nablus. In January 2006, Hamas won a surprise victory in the Palestinian parliamentary elections, taking 76 of the 132 seats in the chamber, while the previous ruling Fatah party took 43. Many perceived the preceding Fatah government as corrupt and ineffective, and Hamas's supporters see it as an "armed resistance" movement defending Palestinians from the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. However, since Hamas's election victory, particularly sharp infighting has occurred between Hamas and Fatah

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamas

If we used that kind of judgement we could then also say the entire population of the US willingly supports unilateral military action and bombings of Iraq, Bosnia and Afghanistan and tactit support of undemocratic remiges in Egypt, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and other states.

Bush On Al Qaeda Not In Iraq Before Invasion: "So What?"

bcglorf says...

>> ^Farhad2000:
Personally I don't think Iraq war was ever conducted for any altruistic reasons because if it was it means one life is valued more then the other, I think the largest example of international do nothingness is the 800,000 killed during the Rwandan genocide.
Somehow Iraq is okay to invade to liberate, Bosnia is okay to invade to liberate but not Darfur and not Rwanda.

I agree 100% with this. I fought against the Iraq war for this and many other reasons. At one point as my other reasons got knocked off I fought it for SOLELY this reason. If the American's couldn't be bothered to save nearly a million Rwandans, then why should anyone take humanitarian issues as a reason America would intervene in Iraq.

Then I remembered my entire argument was based on wishing America HAD gone into Rwanda. I can hardly say that I don't want America in Iraq if I believe removing Saddam will serve a great humanitarian cause, just like the one in Rwanda they(and the entire rest of the world) failed to serve.

I only care about America's motive in removing Saddam when it starts to adversely affect Iraqi's. The overall invasion and removal of Saddam ended a reign of terror the likes of which the world rarely sees and unimaginably worse than most realize.

Bush On Al Qaeda Not In Iraq Before Invasion: "So What?"

Farhad2000 says...

Ah the Kurds, I never knew that concentration camps existed, it seems kinda of odd to me. I had thought that intervention with Kurdish affairs ended with Operation Provide Comfort.

Even then I would not agree to the grounds for war in 2003. I would have agreed to them in 1991, when there was a strong international coalition and strong legal and moral pretense with the Iraqi use of chemical and biological weapons against its own people, Iran and the Kurds, as well as the invasion of Kuwait. But its hard to say something like that, knowing that the US bankrolled the Iran Iraq war, that it propped up Saddam Hussein after the CIA blowback from installing the Shah in Iran and the subsequent Islamic revolution. It's hard to support the American effort knowing that their meddling in middle eastern affairs created the very problems they seem to address years later, the aptly called "hes a son of a bitch but our son of a bitch" foreign policy of propping up dictators and despotic rulers, this is not even starting to talk about the ISI, Afghanistan the Mujahedeen and the formation of Al Qaeda.

Personally I think the largest example of international do nothingness is the 800,000 killed during the Rwandan genocide. Somehow Iraq is okay to invade to liberate, Bosnia is okay to invade to liberate but not Darfur and not Rwanda. The UN simply sat and watched a country collapse into internal genocide.

U.N. Landmine Removal Commercial

notarobot says...

>> ^Sniper007:
I'm not sure which figure is more bogus. The 80 cents or the $1,000.

Neither figure is significantly exaggerated.

"Perhaps 110 million mines lurk in 64 nations around the world, and each year they kill or maim about 30,000 people, usually civilians. The heaviest concentrations of mines are in poor countries like Cambodia, Somalia, Bosnia, Mozambique, Afghanistan and Angola that have survived years or even decades of civil war. Five million new mines are laid each year, and only 100,000 are cleared. A new mine costs $3; uprooting one costs between $200 and $1,000."

But the numbers might have changed since this 1996 Time Magazine article. I don't know if the "butterfly" landmines that this man talks about are newer or cheaper then the $3.00 price that the 1996 article cites.

Why Atheists Care About YOUR Religion

HadouKen24 says...

To buttress my point, here's a list of holy wars divided between monotheists and non-monotheists.

Caused by monotheists:

  • Crusades in the Holy Land.

  • Crusades in France (aka Albigensian Crusades)

  • Northern Crusades against Baltic pagans.

  • 16th century French Wars of Religion.

  • Taiping Rebellion.

  • 2nd Century battles for the Holy Land.

  • Muslim Conquests of Arabia.

  • Muslim Conquests of Asia Minor

  • Muslim Conquests of Northern Africa.

  • Muslim Conquest of Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal)

  • The Reconquista of the Iberian Peninsula.

  • The 30 Years War.

  • Saxon Wars of the 9th century.

  • Conflicts of Bosnia and Kosovo. (The media didn't really report it, but the wars were as much about Christianity versus Islam as anything else.)

  • Protestant-Catholic conflict in Northern Ireland

Caused by non-monotheists:
  • The Second Sino-Japanese War.

The video mentions the Kalinga War started by Ashoka, ruler of the Mauryan empire, as a war caused by religion, but there's absolutely no evidence that this is the case. Everything points to it having been instigated purely for the sake of imperial expansion.

In fact, Ashoka suffered crushing guilt when he saw the horrors his war had brought about. He then converted to Buddhism and renounced war, committing himself to the promulgation of Buddhism and the prosperity and well-being of his people.

So, I've got a list of 14 wars waged in the name of monotheistic religions, and just one war waged in the name of a non-monotheistic religion. (And if you look at the history, it was only labeled a religious war well after it had begun to curry popular support; it wasn't started religion, though it probably would have ended sooner without it.)

Consider that for most of the world's history, most people weren't monotheists. Monotheism didn't really grab a significant chunk of the world's population until the 8th century or so. Even today, almost half of the world's population believes either in no God or in more than one god. Were non-monotheistic religions, to generalize, disposed to holy wars and religious conflicts, the numbers would bear that out. But they don't.

Heck, let's look at religious conflicts going on right now. There are 24 listed conflicts, and only 2 of them were instigated by non-monotheists.

The facts are pretty clear. Non-monotheistic religions, on the whole, don't really cause holy wars. Almost every monotheistic religion, on the other hand, does cause holy wars. The only exception that comes to mind is Mormonism, which hasn't had a chance yet.

Atheists, please restrict your ire appropriately.

It'll be a busy day.

Sarah Palin's daughter pregnant!

kronosposeidon says...

^Actually Joe, if Ms. Palin faked a pregnancy to cover for her daughter then I DO believe it is important. IF true, it would show how willing she is to brazenly lie for political expediency. We swarmed Hillary for her lie about her trip to Bosnia, so why isn't this just as important?

You make a VERY valid point that she is hopelessly underqualified for the job. In fact I agree with you that it should be the voters' primary concern about her. HOWEVER, do you have to be so goddamn abrasive about it by calling people "asshats?" Fucking A, dude.

I know we don't follow Robert's Rules of Order here, and that's great. But if I had replied with: "Don't be a dumb motherfucker, Joe. It shows that she's a liar and a hypocrite, you fucking asshat," would we be thoughtfully exchanging ideas? I mean come on.

Farhad2000 (Member Profile)

thinker247 says...

That was utterly brilliant.

Most of Bush's administration is filled with Cold War-era propagandists who know how to stage a fight against the "Evil Empire," and people just go along with it, as if it's somehow related to today's battles.

What amazes me is the fact that they want so badly to have the Cold War, that they're going to nuke Iran! And what do people say? "Well, we won't invade; we'll just bomb their weapons sites." As if Iran won't see that as a threat against them in general.

I've never heard about Stalin's apportioning of different nationalities into the lower states, but it's an interesting idea. Did he apportion Bosnia and Serbia? Because it would be crazy to know that the Bosnian War was started over a Stalin-initiated program.

In reply to this comment by Farhad2000:
Of course they miss the Cold War, fighting a visible and tangible enemy you can easily call names by invoking over 50 years of anti-communist propaganda!

It is my view that Georgia had total right to try and subvert a splintering of it's nation by moving into South Ossestia. This all has to do with how Stalin mapped the nations below Russia, making sure to include various nationalities in each nation to avert breeding nationalistic sentiment. In Uzbekistan for example there is a huge section of Tajiks in Samarkand, tomorrow it could decide to splinter to join Tajikistan.

Russia isn't there to assure anyone of anything but projecting power and influence on the Georgian government and all other satellite states (Ukraine and Poland specifically) that their cooperation with the West is nothing more then piss in the wind, and when push comes to shove no one will come to their aid.

Welcome to the New Soviet Union.
