There was an interview on ABC that I was watching at work, and the lady being interviewed made more or less the same points as this article from the Grauniad, Dilma Rousseff: Brazilian congress votes to impeach president http://gu.com/p/4tdg9/stw
She said that many of the minor parties spent a lot of time explaining their votes, and that many of them had nothing to do with either corruption or Rousseff... so many Brazilians think it's all politicised and partisan and little to do with any real wrongdoing.
It'll possibly show up here in a day or so - http://www.abc.net.au/transcripts/ (I think it was probably ABC News, Series 2016 | Episode 77). I kinda wish I'd paid more attention to the who/what/when/where/why/how.
The end of this BBC News report highlights something that Greenwald said, which is that the supporters of impeachment are rich and white, and those who oppose it are poor and likely to be mixed race (skip to 1:37):
p.s. This isn't the transcript I was talking about, but yesterday is missing from the list (?!?) It does have some details I haven't seen much elsewhere: http://www.abc.net.au/worldtoday/content/2016/s4445246.htm
Do you have anything decent on the impeachment of Rousseff in Brazil?
Everything I've come across is quite irreconcilable with Glenn Greenwald's comments on this matter. He's probably biased in this regard, but all the reporting over here is either devoid of any useful information or plainly full of shit.
CNNs Reporting Of The Oregon Mass Shooting
BBC news did pretty much exactly the same thing. They even have an article on their website outlining the reasons why it is a bad idea to report the shooters name and picture etc...but then they are just as guilty of writing these bullshit stories about who the killer was, who his parents were, his hobbies, his favorite colour, that thing he once said to someone etc etc. Meanwhile the victims are just numbers for the most part.

Ah ha
A man who knows his geography!
not quite the subject I remembered, but that was the article I was thinking of.
I missed the Caribbean, and having played pirates I have no defence.
So about half the problems are due to changes since the film was made, and half were taking liberties to get it to rhyme.
There was an interesting article on the BBC News web site about
what constitutes a country...I'll have a quick look and send you the link if I find it.p.s. Got it http://www.bbc.com/travel/story/20131212-bribery-and-brandy-in-a-country-that-doesnt-exist
Transnistria
Other than Yugoslavia and Czechslovakia there is the split of Sudan, name changes for Benin/Dahomey, Myanmar/Burma. Many are included as countries that are in fact possessions of other countries. (Puerto Rico, Guam, Bermuda, French Guiana). The Caribean is pointed to as a country but the actual countries of the region are left out mostly (Dominica, St. Kitts & Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Antigua & Barbuda etc). Like I said in my comment I'm sure this wasn't intended to be an absolutely accurate listing even for 1995 and things were included to make the song work. Gaum is rhymed with San Juan and neither one is a country. What can I say, I'm a trivia player whose strong suit is Geography. And don't get me started on places like South Ossetia, Nagorno Karabakh, Nakhchivan, Transnistria. People can't even agree on how to spell them let alone whether they qualify as independent countries. And I shouldn't forget Somalia, Somaliland and Puntland.

A 6.0 Earthquake - USA vs. China
Do you think that the arrest of Zhou Yongkang is a sign that corruption is not tolerated quite as much any more? See this article from BBC News talking about his university distancing themselves from him for instance.
(Of course, China should still be more strict about building codes. Although they'd have to tackle corruption first- too easy to bribe inspectors, and too many contractors cut corners to save money. They are rightly focused on improving food safety now - what other country would you find counterfeit eggs?? )
