what's up with the AFV canned laugfter?

Probably. All these types of clips seem to either start on AFV or eventually make it there.

Who said we can't handle the word? Here in America you can't say Fuck on TV and when it happens it's akin to the same laugh you get when watching AFV where someone gets hit in the nuts or falls on their face. Something unexpected happens and we go teehee, end of story.

This video won it's week on America's Funniest Home Videos ($10,000), then won the grand prize that season ($100,000). A few years later, AFV had a "Funniest Video of All Time" special, and this took that grand prize ($250,000).

animated should not be in arts unless you are talking about obviously artistic ones.

cartoons, claymation, animated (stop-motion), anime --> toons
science & nature & animal documentaries --> (not cute animals) (obviously broader than jsut geek stuff)
commercials, ads, viral ads --> advert
hit in nuts, owned, shocking, etc --> afv/owned
shorts, documentary -> film
sports, motorcycle, cars, planes, skydivers -> action

wow, this is like an AFV dream. surprised it isn't doing better.

Hey langers, I recommend adding an "afv" tag. There are some sifters who seem to get a little antsy when it's an afv compilation and it doesn't have that tag. Almost like the desire to see nsfw tags where appropriate.

America's Funniest (home) Videos is like the original videosift, except it's the dictatorial elitist version of our more egalitarian community.

Also, to improve things, I would recommend a list of common tags.

"music video" might take up too many of those precious few characters allowed.
tv ad, ad, advert, commercial is there a better one?
cartoon, animation, stop-motion, flash, etc?
also, maybe a "classic" tag for the older been-around-the-internet stuff
music vs. music video
appropriate use of cool, crazy, weird, awesome, etc.
declaration that all crotch shot videos be tagged with AFV
nsfw also to be included in tag?
tv shows tagged as such
etc.
