McCain Said "Horseshit" in Debate

HollywoodBob says...

You shouldn't be so quick to deny he said that. If they'd call each other on their horseshit a little more audibly maybe we could have had a real debate. But no we had two guys talking to Jim Lehrer who was desperately trying to get them to call each other on their shit. Problem is that they're too well trained in debating where you're not supposed to confront your opposition. While I don't want to see a debate spiral down into an O'Reilly interview with people screaming over the top of the person with the valid point, I would like to see these debates become more of a contest than just a series of soundbites. I'd like to have a town hall debate where people can ask any question not just filtered ones like those stupid You Tube debates, or the other town hall debates that are full of plants. Things like what's more important, protecting Americans from terrorism (<10,000 deaths in the last 20 years) or giving all Americans health care (>100,000 deaths a year)? When you break it down to simple economics, our society is broken, when people would rather spend trillions of dollars to avenge the deaths of 3500 people, but won't raise taxes on cigarettes to prices so high that people won't want to smoke saving more than 400,000 lives a year.

MythBusters: CPU vs GPU.. or Paintball Cannons are Cool!!!

Excellent video!

In the last year, I upgraded from an Athlon 64 3500+ (2.2 GHz single core) to a Core 2 Duo E6750 (2.66 GHz dual core, 1333 FSB). I was getting bad performance in my games and needed an upgrade. My video card was a Radeon X1600 Pro PCI-E 512 MB (DDR2 400).

I then bought a new tower and transferred the hardware over. What happened was very interesting.

In Frontlines: Fuel of War (Unreal 3 engine), I had been running in minimal detail on my Athlon. With the Core 2, the game detected my processor and decided that it would raise certain detail levels unadjustable through the ingame menu, resulting in crappier performance than I had been getting. I had to go into the config files and manually adjust several settings to get a playable framerate.

This means that GPUs are much more important to gaming than people think. My video card had set a ceiling limit on my system's gaming performance, even though I now run Crysis in high detail w/ silky smooth framerates with a 9800 GT.

Basically, you are better off with a not so great CPU and a decent video card than the other way around.

If at the time I had to choose between a new CPU or a new video card, I'd have been better off with the GPU.

Memorare says...

"We have bases, supply line. Supplies. Bunkers. Strongholds.
And anything you could deem necessary for waging a war. "

Anything necessary for waging a war...
Like the lives of ANOTHER 3500+ US soldiers that will just be pissed away for nothing?
Like ANOTHER few Thousand who'll be crippled, blinded and disfigured for life?
Like ANOTHER few Tens of Thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians who will be killed by this bullsht?

The only soldiers who claim to have "actually been there" and talk crap like that were the techs stationed safely in Kuwait, or MPs sitting safely in the green zone, or grunts floating safely offshore on some carrier, who never "actually" took part in any "actual" fighting themselves.

"Members" page link (Sift Talk Post)

firefly says...

Either that, or put in a drop down menu (similar to the queue menu) to view members either by rank or alphabetically.
Plus, how many of our 3500+ members are active? How many have signed up just to vote for a video, and have never returned? Is there a way to determine those, and perhaps "deactivate" users who have not logged on in say, 30 or 60 days?
