How Long Would It Take The Whole World To Turn Into Zombies?

Asmo says...

Guess it depends on which zombie mythos you're using/hoping for... ; )

28 days later/rage virus style zombies could be starved out but are much more aggressive and more likely to spread infection. Incubation time is relatively short so it's not likely people on planes would be able to transmit intercontinentally.

Resident Evil zombies can have the virus spread via birds so transcontinental infection would be much faster. All in all, RE infection is basically the worst of the worst in terms of zombie invasions with the penchant for mutation in to super zombies/creatures.

Classic Romero dead that just rise up and start fucking the planet over? Much slower but much less likely to be stopped.

Remember, you also have to factor in things like:

a) high suicide rates from people believing there is no hope
b) infrastructure and services failing (power plants, water, food etc) which would lead to starvation etc
c) nutjobs deliberately spreading the infection (your standard doomsday cult sorta thing)

Inception and Memento are both really good films (I think Inception is a Great film), but largely because they are great ideas, well delivered. His Batman stuff is fine, but it didn't rock my world. Really, it seems pretty formulaic to me.
I think Tarantino's work is so distinctive and ambitious, that he sits above all others. Also, if you go through his films (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, the two Kill Bills (so far, a third has been announced), Grindhouse and then Inglourious Basterds), it's hard to pick a weak spot apart from Grindhouse which was a disaster and an excuse to film the best car chase in modern history. But even that was ambitious if not well executed.
I'm tempted to put Danny Boyle up there, but almost exclusively for Trainspotting which is my favourite film of all time, and Sunshine which I thought was brilliant.
Perhaps Tarantino could be given the nod for best writer/director in the modern era?

Good call on Danny Boyle. I haven't see Sunshine, but 28 Days Later is one of my favourites of all time, Shallow Grave was a great debut and Slumdog Millionaire was beautiful. But yeah, Tarantino, he's inimitable

This looks great; not being at all familiar with the comic series I have to ask (to anyone who might know) if there is any connection here between this and 28 Days Later? Between 1:30 and 2:30 it looks very, very similar. (not that it's a bad thing!)

The beginning of both stories: the "waking up in the hospital" idea, is an homage to "Day of the Triffids", the 1951 John Wyndham novel and 1962 film of the same title.

Make sure to say it just like that when one of your friends says, "I couldn't watch the show because from the very start they ripped off '28 Days Later'." And be sure to "make quote marks", "in the air", "with your hands". That will really make them feel like a "dumb, asshole".

And of course, you can compare to the comic (and upvote) here: http://videosift.com/video/The-Walking-Dead-Motion-Comic

The track is "An Ending (Ascent) by Brian Eno. Also heard in the film 28 Days Later. It's absolute quality.>> ^videosiftbannedme:

Music is Brian Eno. Not exactly sure which track though. It was used in a PBS Special "The Creation of the Universe". Dated, but HIGHLY recommended.

I watched my brother play this game and my biggest gripe was his voice. He's a bike courier. Why does every modern male game lead have to have the stupid gravelly Wolverine/duke/halo voice?

Sounds more "Wannabe Solid Snake" to me. It's a good game, I actually started off hating it. I couldn't stand his voice, the fact that you could climb EVERY building actually got to me, because most of the time you're climbing something that you know wouldn't be there in real life (Generally places don't have exterior pipes), and you can basically make it up anywhere no matter what by spamming X and hoping for the best.

It's a good enough system, but I dislike it, I prefer Assassins creed more. My other gripe is that I got insanely lucky with the first "Mission" of saving the food and it immidiately set me to Hard difficulty and the game then proceeded to kick my ass.

The Reapers have what look to be AK-47's, but have a 99.9% accuracy rating, essentially meaning if you poke your head out to zap someone and there's more then 3 of them there, you're either dead or graying out.

However, with more power unlocks and a tad more understanding of the game it does get more fun, it's just a shame that it took me 3+ hours to reach that point.

Let's see what your voice sounds like after being forced to drain thousands of human souls, and then getting electrocuted.

I bet you'd drop an octave or two.

To Quantumushroom - a short song written in about 5 minutes (Blog Entry by JiggaJonson)

Reminds me of the song that Issy and I wrote over the end credits to 28 Days Later.

Zombie, why ya wanna eat me. (sung in a thick British Psychedelic Furs voice)

We couldn't stop laughing after the first line, so we never finished it. Maybe you could help us.
