World's Biggest A**hole Driver!!!

conan says...

>> ^shagen454:

My understanding of physics, as elementary as it may be (I earned a C+) - the car being hit on the left side would push the car to the right like you said. The driver would have to correct the direction but it looks like he/she over-corrected. I dunno, I've never been clipped from behind going that fast.
>> ^P1ggy:
The asshole car clipped the car on the right in the back left corner. It pushed the back slightly out to the right which effectively put that car into a left hand turn. It did not do it on purpose.
>> ^shagen454:
Why did the other car turn in? Was he trying to hit the oncoming asshole car, thereby making the accident much worse? Anyway, upvote for amazing title.

I'm sorry to inform you that your C+ was well deserved ;-)

The car was in fact hit on the left side. but it would only go to the right if it had been hit on the front left side. since the moron had hit the other car on the back left side he effectively turned it to the left. This is a technique trained and used i.e. by security personell for stopping especially front wheel drive cars. basically you just "turn" the car.

Take a model car, put your finger on top and push it forwards. no with your other hand push the back end to the right. result: car goes left. quod erat demonstrandum as my phyics teacher used to note :-)

Yes, this is the second-person perspective of the asshole... sadly, the first-person perspective of the asshole's victim.

>> ^jwray:

It's not a first person perspective of the asshole driver. To do that it would have to be a dash cam inside the asshole driver's car.

Moose Discovers Flight the Hard Way - kinda graphic

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

Yes! And when you can stitch together everyone's camera view, you've invented virtual time travel - with the ability to view anything at any time.>> ^gwiz665:

Even more incredible, the automatic face tracking and tagging, will make it possible to follow someones life entirely in 3rd person from everyone else's camera, with only few outages where you can alwaysgo into 1st person.
>> ^dag:
Lifecasting will become the default. We'll all wear pendant cameras around our neck at all times. Nothing will go unrecorded, but we'll share the good parts. How many terabytes would be required to store 80 years of life at say 720P?>> ^deathcow:
With the advent of cheap quality cams, infinite storage, etc. It probably wont be long before car insurance requires little cams around all car corners. Liability will be as simple as reviewing the footage from all cars nearby.

Palestinian boy throws rock at car and gets hit

SDGundamX says...

James Paul Gee in his book about Video Games and Learning talks about an Internet 1st person shooter that went up showing the Palestinian conflict from the Palestinians point of view. In the game you become a "freedom fighter." You start by throwing rocks at Jewish soldiers and settlers and later on progress to more advanced weaponry. The game met with widespread condemnation from the West and is no longer available.

However, Gee made a very interesting point about the game. In the game, no distinction is made between Jewish civilians and soldiers. Both are framed in the game as invaders that must be expelled. Gee makes the claim that this gives insight into how the game designer felt about the conflict in real life and that--possibly--we too can gain some insight into the Palestinian conflict. Hopelessly outgunned by a technologically superior army, unable to bring equal negotiating power to the table since the U.S. backs Israel, many Palestinians (including the game designer, apparently) feel that resorting to violent resistance--even that which targets civilians--is the only way to restore the balance of power. By doing so, the Palestinians can forced the Israelis to treat them on more equal terms, since the Palestinians can use the offer of reining in such violence as a bargaining chip at the negotiating table. Gee claims that by playing and pondering the game, he was able to consider a point of view he'd never really thought about before.

I'm not saying that point of view is right or moral in any way. Just trying to point out that what we're seeing in this video likely is not "kids gone wild" but in all likelihood part of a larger geo-political game that both sides (Israeli government and Palestinian government) are playing--though the kids themselves are most likely unaware they are pawns in the game. Frankly, I pity them.

Quake Done Quick 720p

I was going to say - Quake Done Quickest (IIRC) was really cool because it was all from those dynamic camera angles (not 1st person). Still, great sift!

This is brilliant. Some serious skill displayed here... I used to know every single map in Quake but it has been so long since I played it...

Even better is Quake Done Quick 100%. I probably should've sifted that one instead.

I was familiar with Quake Done Quicker, but I don't think I'd ever watched Quake Done Quickest before. The entire game in 13:49. Wow.
