It's hard out here for a Sift.

When Bush was in office, my political vids would fly out of my queue. Now that Obama is in office, they tend to either die a miserably slow death in the p-queue or reach just ten or eleven votes in a matter of three days and never end up anywhere near the front page.

It's funny, though. The content of the videos aren't all that different.

What do you think is the reason for you, marinara?

"Good" is the key word. Something that I think is brilliant may only get 5-6 votes, such is the nature of popularity. Hard to work with.

It could be related to our thumbnail outage. People less likely to give it a look without the thumbnail. Just a guess.

i can come up with a bunch of reasons why videos are sifting out and not in, i'd like to know that there's a real problem first of all tho!

y'no, going thru the unsifted queue always kinda seemed like doing homework.

I currently have brilliant unsifted videos. Catch 'em while you can

I may sound like a broken record on this topic, but ever since we switched to having the front page be based on "hotness" instead of "newness", timing your submissions becomes pretty important.

It's easy for a good video to get lost if you sift it late at night, or early in the morning.

I also find that you need a sensational title. "Two politicians debate health care reform" might get you 10 votes after 30 hours. "Anthony Weiner Bitchslaps John Boehner for Being a Dick" will likely get you 100 votes in 24 hours, especially if the video involves actual body parts colliding.

Lucky's not here...let's blame him.
