You're right, and its really a shame that poor choices made early in life will affect them the rest of their life, but honestly poor choices got them there.

You wouldn't make such an asinine comment if you knew what it's really like to have warts. It itches and burns like hell. Sex is basically impossible, because your whole vagina is so sore. A guys penis will feel like he's ramming you with a knife, if you try sex. Many women have it without realising it until it's severe, because the warts may be inside, hidden from view, like around the cervix.

There's nothing tickly about having warts.

I didn't see your post, or I would have voted for it. That's a big problem with the Sift, I think. There's just so much material in the queue at any given moment, it's impossible to see it all, at all times, unless you become a total VS addict and spend your life plugged in. I think Dag secretly wants us all to succumb.

Well, there you have it!

Did you get them both at the same time? If so then I probably wouldn't expect this. If not, then it's possible the one you had first feels like her territory has been invaded by the newbie, hence the aggression. Females are normally much less aggressive than males, but it's not unheard of for this to happen. I had the same problem with my mice.

One possible solution: Fill a spray bottle with water, and whenever you see them fight blast them both. If you can watch them both closely for a while and consistently perform this action the greater the chance of success. It's completely humane too. Good luck, and keep me posted.

My son showed me this video a while back after he had downloaded it onto his PSP. He has a couple of pet rats, so he's kind of into them. Let me say this much about owning a rat:

They're good pets. They're smart and friendly, and of all the rodents you can possibly own (i.e., mice, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc.), they are the LEAST likely to bite you. We've owned three rats, and none of them have ever bitten us. Trust me; I've owned most of the aforementioned rodents, and rats are the best. The first rat we had, Jasmine, was so cool. She knew her name and would come when you called her, and she would lick your hands and feet if you let her. She had her own little rituals when we let her out of her cage to play, including begging for peanuts and nibbling on an old blanket in my son's bedroom. When a second rat we owned had babies, Jasmine helped watch them while the momma took a much needed sleep break. Jasmine died almost a year ago, and we still miss her. She was a good girl.

So don't be bagging on rats, y'all. They're just trying to get by like the rest of us, and they ain't so bad if you give them a chance.

.. . A careful examination of alternatives is precisely what the chlorine industry seeks to avoid. Their primary strategy has been to bog down the debate in interpretations of the toxicological evidence -- the "dueling risk assessments" strategy invented long ago by the tobacco industry.

The main front group for this strategy has been Elizabeth Whelan's American Council on Science and Health (ACSH). ACSH receives 76% of its funding from industry sources, including Exxon, the largest phthalate manufacturer in the world.[1]

ACSH hired Dr. C. Everett Koop, Ronald Reagan's Surgeon General, to spearhead ACSH's "blue ribbon" panel of 17 "experts," most of whom have ties to the chemical industry, examining PVC safety. Koop and ACSH concluded that vinyl toys and medical devices are not harmful.

In its extensive critique of Koop's study, Health Care Without Harm pointed out that ACSH only weighed the risks and benefits of medical products made flexible with DEHP (a toxic phthalate --see REHW #661), while ignoring the available alternatives --cost-competitive nonPVC products that are perfectly good substitutes. For instance, Koop said, "removing the phthalate [from the PVC product] would actually pose a significant health risk to individuals who depend on these devices [IV bags]." Koop ignored the fact that an FDA-approved phthalate-free IV bag produced by McGaw already has about 20% of the IV bag market.[2]

Great sift! We need more chemical toxicity awareness videos like this. People's homes are full of this stuff and they are largely ignorant of the effects it has on their health and well-being.

Even Nike is phasing out the use of PVC. I would like to have seen this video go a little further into describing the effects of the VOCs emitted by PVC. One that women need to be aware of, is the estrogen mimicking effect of VOCs, which basically messes up our menstrual cycle.

Consider this installed on a roof, two rows, vertically aligned strips (so lots of strips). The rows are aligned E/W such that the sun traversal goes between them. This means they cast very small shadows, relative to being N/S aligned. The space between, you use for solar capture, either as electricity generation or heat capture for water heating/storage, or both in a hybrid.

Then use nets/clay on the walls, and plant greenery. Alolw rainwater to be recycled feeding it. Saw a documentary showing such buildings and they looked great and had a big positive impact on people, visually etc. Masked the building and looked like a jungle canopy. Almost completely self sustaining and low maintenance too.

We are going to be technically able to do lots of interesting engineering things in construction. But will we on mass? Thats a cultural question, and hard to predict, and is probably reliant on mass production techniques, and financial incentives to start the investments.
