persephone says...

This joke is old. I've seen it a dozen times. The fact that I've seen it so much makes me think it strikes a cord with people, that for many people it holds a grain of truth. To me, the underlying message is that wives ruin men's lives, more so than the Freudian slip part.(because it sounds nothing like a slip, agreed?) Maybe that's my skewed perception of the joke, but that's the message of many wife-jokes. As a wife, I find it offensive. Next time you wish to share a joke, try to consider that if it's railing against women/wives in any way, there IS a chance you could offend someone.

Thanks for the tip, persephone - but I'm not sure why women would be offended by that joke. It's not about women. Make the people talking women and change "bitch" to some male-oriented curse word and it's the same joke.

I'm assuming you are a women and were offended. Why?
