A little about me...
Humanity speaks in many languages, but only one voice. The language is not English, French, Spanish, Hebrew or Mandarin.
It speaks in the language of hope. It speaks in the language of trust. It speaks in the language of strength, in the language of compassion.

It is the language of the heart and the language of the soul. But always it is the same voice.
It is the voice of our ancestors speaking through us, and the voice of our inheritors waiting to be born. It is the small, still voice that says: We are one.

No matter the blood, no matter the skin, no matter the world, no matter the star; we are one.
No matter the pain, no matter the darkness, no matter the loss, no matter the fear; we are one.

Here, gathered together in common cause, we agree to recognize this singular truth and this singular rule: that we must be kind to one another.
Because each voice enriches us and ennobles us, and each voice lost diminishes us. We are the voice of humanity, the soul of creation; the fire that will light the way to a better future. We are one.

Thanks. Your comment is exactly why I posted it.

This is the power of the internet -- getting past the money-making images. Fear sells papers and catches eyes on the TV news, not love.

I have colleagues and friends who've immigrated to my country from Iran and who're in in daily contact with as well as take regular trips to the friends and family they've got living there. The image I've gotten of the place is nothing like the devilish hell hole that US and European media depicts it to be. It's a modern society with an ancient culture. Sure it's a country which struggles with poverty, social injustice and religious fundamentalism, that's undeniable. However, in many regards the same image could be painted of the US or even my own country of Sweden, should anyone feel the desire to do so, even if the degree to which the national problems manifest themselves vary. What is so very important to keep in mind, and what the media is very careful not to show you, is the actual people. That's why I like this video and others like it (although the music in this one wasn't really necessary IMO), because it humanizes them in a media conversation which otherwise thrives on dehumanizing to push a political agenda.

I gave him fair warning and he still kept it up. I don't care how it makes me look. He even goaded me to do it after I gave him the warning (see the last part), so I don't feel bad about it at all. Maybe he'll stay away for ever now. Has worked pretty well so far.

This isn't making you look any better, Gwiz. Quite the contrary in fact. Posting personal emails like this reeks of childish vindictiveness, regardless of what Choggie writes in them.

I tried, but for some reason, though it had been deadened by eric way back, it did not offer me the option to "fix video embed code"...I pronounced it dead again-it may be a glitch-I could either return to it in a couple days and see if the option re-appears, or, you could simply forward the thing to dag or rommel(lucky760), they'll do it pretty quick for ya....sorry man, i tried-

ahem...I would like to pimp this one though...

Hey there!

I was wondering if you could fix the dead link in this sift?:

I've found an almost exact copy of the original here:

The way he emphasizes his speech is also annoying, how it appears that he thinks every single thing he says is some kind of fundamental truth no matter how mundane a topic or point he brings up..

Well, just about everything he ever talks about is some kind of fundamental truth about the world we live in, I can sympathize with your objection to how he talks, but if you can stand it, or ignore its peculiarity, I strongly recommend his TEDtalks lecture on the Large Hadron Collider , one of the best presentations I have ever seen. Enjoy, if you can

Even though it doesn't mean anything. I kind of like voting for my own videos for some reason. I wouldn't be opposed to the change though.

I agree with your other points too. People wouldn't probably try too hard for those few extra clicks. That's as far as I'd want to go though. I would always like the ability to sift through another user's PQ. Maybe we could just hide the submitter's name until the video is off of the unsifted page, THEN it appears in their PQ.

In reply to this comment by Kreegath:
It doesn't have to be that way, though.

Just removing the name of the submitter on the "unsifted" tag should be enough to do away with most of the buddy-voting going on, as I'm fairly certain people won't go through the trouble of looking up their buddies profile every time they log onto Videosift. It doesn't have to be impossible to figure out who posted what video though, as people on the net are generally too lazy to ever go through with any kind of work they don't absolutely have to. Clicking around two-three pages extra would, I'm sure we both could probably agree on, fall under the "won't bother" category.
But even if we'd want it taken to the extreme, then it wouldn't be hard to hide the "unsifted videos" and/or PQ links on ones personal page to everyone but the user. I just feel like there are better things to focus on than just arbitrarily raise the vote limit, and as such file off the fringe stuff in favour of the bland mainstream, like cat fart videos and slapstick. Hope you find this reasoning decent enough and not off-putting, as it's formed with the best of intentions. Oh, and also; Kronos' idea of removing the self-vote is something I found to be a great suggestion. What did you think of it?

In reply to this comment by Ryjkyj:
I was completely for this idea when I first saw it but I just realized that it would require getting rid of personal queues. Doh!

In reply to this comment by Kreegath:
Or we could hide the submitter's name until the video has been sifted, since I'm betting there's alot of buddy-voting going on. If that's indeed the case, then it'd be much more of detriment to the quality control idea.

you need to use pointy parenthesis <> instead of []

It's amazing how wrong he is on just about everything he says. Scandinavia doesn't have any "purer" genepool than any other place. During the viking invasions they managed to grab and return with maidens as far away as Egypt, and later on they had major waves of immigrants from Germany, France, Russia, the Baltic, Poland etc. My own family on my mother's side are [A url="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walloons"]Walloons[/A] who immigrated from Belgium in the 1600's.
Species? Races? We're taught here that there is one race, the human race, and that skin colour doesn't change that any more than hair- or eye colour.

EDIT: Aaand it's very hard for some people to learn how to make links in a text, so any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
