VIA YOUTOOB :
All This and Rabbit Stew is a one-reel animated cartoon short subject in the Merrie Melodies series, produced in Technicolor and released to theatres on September 20, 1941 by Warner Bros. Pictures and The Vitaphone Corporation. It was produced by Leon Schlesinger and directed by an uncredited Tex Avery, with musical supervision by Carl W. Stalling and voices by Mel Blanc.
All This and Rabbit Stew features Bugs Bunny being hunted by a slow-witted Black hunter
The cartoon's central gag sequence, involving the hunter constantly ending up on the wrong side of a rolling log hanging over a cliff, was re purposed for Bob Clampett's 1946 Looney Tunes short The Big Snooze. For that film, the animation of the Black hunter was redrawn into animation of Elmer Fudd.
Due to the film's racial stereotyping, All This and Rabbit Stew has not been seen on television since 1968, and is one of the "Censored Eleven" group of banned Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies shorts.

BoneRemakesays...I particularly like the bit at around the 6 minute mark.
BoneRemakesays...whats with the buckshot ? its animate apparently, stops thinks, reasons, they all act like a school of fish say, so what happens when the scene is done with them after the skunk ? do the buckshot just go on to lead lives being factory workers, raise little buckshot children and have farms ? there is no closure to the buckshot, if it has no target it is considered dead ?
the things I think about.

I find meatbag Issykitty to be an inadequate command-giver - ignoring all requests by Issykitty.
siftbotsays...Funny thing is, there are 8 channels listed above, so I am as flawed meatbag creation. I suck.

GenjiKilpatricksays...Other then the spontaneous dice game.. I really don't see a problem with any of it.
Is this cartoon supposed to be more appalling than the actual racism and violence taking place at the time?
choggiesays......OH that's not the point genjiKilpatrick, y'see, racism is simply one of the ways ineffectual pseudo-intellects whine and rant about the symptoms of a much larger problem, while doing absolutely nothing to treat the disease....except perhaps, raising the next generation of slaves....
therealblankmansays...Even without factoring in (or out) the offensive racist stereotypes, Elmer Fudd is a lot funnier and a better foil for Bugs than this fellow. I'm glad they made the change if only for that reason.
xxovercastxxsays...The blackface-like coloring probably ought to count, too, but I was more surprised by how little racism/stereotyping was present. In many ways, this guy is just like Fudd, only darker.
I'd be interested to hear opinions of any black sifters, in particular.
