The Searchers - John Wayne's Historic Tribute Pose

wildmanBillsays...

A little context to the title. Harry Carey Sr. a stuntman/actor and John Wayne's best friend died a bit before The Searchers began filming. The pose that Wayne does on the front porch when he is finally alone (lean to one side with hand on his elbow) was the stance that Carey was known for amongst his friends. The actress in the blue dress is Carey's widow and in a documentary about the making of The Searchers she quotes "I saw John standing like that, and went to pieces."

Cheers to the Duke for never forgetting his friends.
