The Christian Trinity

A look at two prominent lines of apologetic bullshit frequently used by Christian apologists in defense of their belief that their god is a trinity.

another interesting read up is on the Mor Gabriel monastery. the world's oldest monastery, that broke with the catholic church over this very dispute. they are today dedicated to preserving arameic as a language.

This was interesting, though confusing. I couldn't tell if he was just arguing against the concept of the Christian God as a trinity, or using this as an argument against Christianity as a whole. I wish he'd explained a little more what exactly the Holy Spirit is supposed to be, but probably his target audience knows more about such things than I do. And why so arrogant? But interesting none-the-less.

Biblicism at its finest. The narrator failed to mention that the Trinitarian doctrine took a few hundred years to coalesce (something he was very eager to point out) because the Bible in its current form took a few hundreds years to be put together. During the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd centuries there were still just different collections of the Synoptics, Pauline epistles, and various other letters. No one could really come together and meet to decide what was canonical and what wasn't until Constantine legalized Christianity and they could come out into the open.

As for the trinity in Scripture how about the Great Commission "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" or the words of Paul "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all."

From his YouTube page, it looks like this video is just one part of a larger argument against Christianity in its modern form.

This video itself, though, is not an argument against Christianity. At most, it attempts to show that many of the so-called Trinitarian heresies are just as historically and Biblically well-grounded as the doctrine of the Trinity itself.

But it sounded arrogant to you? It sounded more like your average college lecture to me. Which is what you'd expect; the maker of the video is a college professor.

not surprising that it's false. they could at least make their myths fit in with themselves.. the conclusion isn't that the trinity is false - but that the whole bible is and that their gods are made up!
