Super Mario Bros. on Marimba with 4 Mallets by Aaron DeWayne

YouTube description:

"Koji Kondo is my hero! He composed the music for Super Mario Brothers and many other of my all-time favorite NES games, like Zelda." - Aaron

Here, Aaron plays the "Overworld" and "Underworld" theme music on marimba with four mallets. The music was transcribed, note for note, from the original Nintendo game.

Fun fact: The Nintendo Entertainment System was capable of producing only 4 sounds at a time: 3 tones + 1 noise channel. Here, Aaron plays the 3 pitched voices: melody, harmony, and bass.

Mallets used: Malletech LS17Z

Wonderful.

My oldest boy is learning the song on piano for his holiday concert in December, so I have a special appreciation for the details of this performance.

You don't realize some of the intricacies of performing the song until you get in there and try it. Your hands really have to jump all over the place and at a tempo and cadence that's really hard to get right at some spots.
