MarineGunrocksays...You watch ever minute of this, you motherfuckers, and learn that you aren't shit compared to this man.
A10anissays...Tremendous guy. The award was well deserved. I skipped, however, the first 2.40 and the last 2.13 as they were unnecessary prayers to god. After all, did god favour this brave man, but decided not to favour his fallen, equally brave, comrades? if so, what sort of capricious god is he? Believe if you choose, pray if you choose, but keep it private and out of the public arena. This soldier did what he did, not because of god, but because he knew it was the right thing to do.
charliemsays...Let me being by saying im about to piss a lot of people off.....and not for troll-sake, I assure you.
This video evokes a few emotions. First and foremost is that of awe, in how ridiculously brave this guy was, hearing the story told and reading about it just blows my mind that anyone of sound mind would even begin contemplating doing what he did.
But then my critical thinking mind kicks in and sees this in a totally different light....watch it again and tell me that the story doesnt just wreak of military propoganda. Im sure that the story was similar to what is proclaimed, but the presidents speech just sounds seriously dramatised for a fox audience.
Then we have a priest praying at the start and end of it all? Since when did religion become so heavily engrained in an arm of the US State Dept.?
The bit where potus mentions that this is the finest example of a generation? Im sorry..what? Any sane person would not have done what he did....theres bravery, and then theres stupid luck.
America - the war country!
I dont mean to down play what this guy did in any way....im more upset about the performance of presenting it. The mass media coverage, the total and utter calculated nature with how the story is presented, in ever minute detail...why?
In Australia, the Victoria Cross is analogous the the CMOH, yet there is nowhere near the showmanship / parade surrounding the presentation of the award....we simply dont promote guys that excell in violent stupidity shrouded in bravery like you guys do, and to then hold that he is a cut above...I dunno...those who are working towards cures for cancer and the like?
Ugh.....im not going to appologise for any of this...the whole thing makes me want to vomit a little bit.
Congratulations are due for his actions, but this is a bit much.
MarineGunrocksays...@charliem:
First and foremost: Would you kindly go fuck yourself?
Now that I have that out of the way, religion has been an integral part of military ceremony throughout the entire history of our armed forces. No one is forced to be religious and the only place it comes us is with invocation at the start and ending of ceremonies.
As far as holding this guy above those that work towards cures for cancer: those researches aren't being shot at with AK-47s and RPGs. How the hell is what he did violent stupidity?
Of course this whole thing was presented in an calculated way. What would you rather? The president just get up on stage, undo his tie and just wing it? Fly from the seat of his pants? "Yeah, so uh, this guy here, welll, there was some shootin' and stuff, and some people got hit, so he and this other dude tooke a humvee to go get em. There was some more shootin' I think, and he save some do0dz lives."
charliemsays...Youve missed my point entirely. It feels more like propaganda than a ceremony to congratulate a guy for what he did.
