So, this is Oscar Acosta reading an excerpt from his book The Revolt of the Cockroaches. He tells the story of his initiation defending the Chicano. This particular passage examines the death of a young Chicano, inside jail walls, that was ruled a suicide. Acosta is allowed to exhume the body under the pretense of a fair reexamination. The family of the deceased allows Acosta to exhume the body for trial against the police, which is unjustly ruled as a suicide by the all white judges at the time.
