Obama Spokesman Nails Sean Hannity

A spokesman for Barack Obama crushes OG Butthole Sean Hannity, for giving a platform to a horrible anti-semite on his show.

I don't care for Sean Hannity but I don't disagree with his position here. A host of a TV show doesn't suddenly become "X" just because they have a guest on that show who is "X". It's lazy thinking. Know wut I mean?

^ I would agree with you, but Hannity was using the guy as an authority on his show, an episode 100% based on smearing Obama, and not once did Hannity show that he disagreed with him whatsoever on any subject.

To have someone on his show who is so extreme an anti-semite, and then not discuss that whatsoever, is the problem here.

I think Hannity's argument is disingenuous by virtue of that fact that he even makes it. How can you argue that your show is a forum for independent viewpoints when you yourself have such a biased view? And his entire argument comes from that bias in attacking Obama. If it were true that Hannity was unbiased he would have left Obama out of that part of the argument altogether.

Of course, it's a waste of time discussing anything that comes out of Fox News as if it were journalism.

OK, I've watched The Young Turks talk about this clip and the Obama smear piece that precipitated it:

Hannity didn't have Andy Martin on the show to talk about his hatred of Jews. He had Andy Martin on to shamelessly smear Barak Obama. It's all very despicable. One thing this episode reinforces is that Hannity is the kind of scumbag you read about in books. His brand of changeable character would not hesitate to sell his mother if it saved his own neck.

NetRunner is correct: this guilt by association tactic, employed tongue-in-cheek by Mr. Gibbs, is the same sort used by Hannity ad infinitum. It's that guilt by association tactic I was railing against above so I was actually siding with Colmes.

>> ^NetRunner:
Okay, let me explain the irony -- Robert Gibbs just used Hannity's own interviewing style on him on his own show.
Gibbs knows what he's doing is crap, and that's the point.

That is exactly what he was doing... the best part is that Hannity is either to naive... or to stupid to know he is being mocked.

Januarisays...

only if you take it literally... and ignore the fact that he is doing it to show what a ridiculous argument it is... It is as Netrunner and shuac have pointed out... 'tongue and cheek' if you elect to disregard that and take it literally then yes... he is.

Looking at the viewer poll on the bottom of the screen, 86% of Fox News viewers thought McCain won the debate compared to 12% for Obama. Shocker! Of course, every credible news outlet in the country has polls showing that Obama essentially crushed McCain in every desirable way.

This video is very important - demonstrates Robert Gibbs' talent and skill with handling media, and why it was a no-brainer for him to be Obama's Press Secretary.

From WP:

In his efforts to combat claims of ties between Obama and Weather Underground co-founder Bill Ayers in the weeks before the election, Gibbs raised his own national profile when he confronted Fox News Network's Sean Hannity about his repeatedly bringing up the subject of Ayers during the interview.

On the air, Gibbs challenged Hannity's attempts to associate Obama with a terrorist because Obama once served on a charitable board with Ayers. Gibbs countered that not only did the board also consist of Republican McCain supporters, Hannity himself had hosted Andy Martin who had previously made anti-Semitic remarks. Amidst contentious debate, Gibbs argued that, if Hannity's claim that Obama is a terrorist due to an association with Ayers is accurate, one would then have to accept that Hannity is an anti-semite because of his association with Martin.

It's a real pleasure to watch Hannity drown while trying to stay on message. I can't believe Hannity refers to himself as a journalist. I'd say he's a polemicist, but that's a waste of a perfectly good word.

The only problem I have with this is that William Ayers was fucking right.

He's been proven right countless times.

The Pentagon was lying. Daniel Ellsberg and Seymour Hersh took great risks to shine the light there, as did many thousands of others.

And millions of civilians died, at the hands of the Pentagon, and Ayers didn't kill one single person.

I love to see Hannity shit his pants, but this is yet another example of pussy Democrats shitting on their supporters to appease their opponents.

^ Stating the obvious here: The US needs a big-tent progressive third party to the left of the Dems. If it happens in my life that will at least be some measure of progress.
