On the 29th anniversary of Mt. St. Helens here is one of the original news reports on the eruption and its aftermath.

That morning I was a little kid playing in the basement of our house in Vancouver, BC, over 400 km north of the volcano. There was a huge explosive sound that shook the house. My Mom yelled downstairs "What have you broken now?!"

She always blames me for everything. Even when it's the volcano's fault.
