Man catches burglar on webcams, posts video on Youtube

rembarsays...

So basically, this guy set up security cameras in his home and connected them to the internet to notify him when there was motion in the house. When someone actually did break in, he got notified and called the cops. After the robber left and the cops came, he posted the video on youtube to see if anybody could identify him. As of his last update:

"UPDATE 11-22-06 Police have identified the man, and hopefully will catch him this week. Also, some of my belongings have surfaced at local pawn shops. I will be posting information on my webcam setup and how you can set one up soon.

The original story- Dallas, Texas- Home was burglarized on 11-16-06. Here is video footage the guy breaking in and robbing the house. Same guy I assume broke in on 11-09-06. Stole mainly jewelry and small electronics. If you recognize this punk, email me at robbery@hays.net"

The original video, as well as links to more coverage of the same story, can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSuEI377dOc

Whilst it's great the guy's been caught, this fella needs to beef up his cctv a bit. No cable should be exposed so that the thief can cut them really.

agreed, theneb, pretty sloppy work having cables to your security cam running up your siding.

I use a program (which is good but has a terrible, terrrrible customer help service) called CamPanel, and have logitech 5000 webcams hooked up to it. it can be set to e-mail me if triggered by motion, but i don't use it too often because my work schedule is all over the place.
