Gloucestershire Cheese Rolling Championships 2009

Last Monday, May 25th, the annual Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling and Wake was held near Gloucester, England. From the top of a hill a round of Double Gloucester cheese is rolled, and competitors race down the hill after it.

The first person over the finish line at the bottom of the hill wins the cheese. In theory, competitors are aiming to catch the cheese, but since it has a one second head start and can reach speeds up to 70mph, this rarely occurs.

Deanosays...

Note the competitor from Guantanomo bay this time.

They really should have more camera angles and give them wearable ones. But I reckon it's only a matter of time before Health and Safety stump up the chutzpah to try and ban this.

I wanna do this soo bad. I love the wall of Rugby players at the bottom for safety. You have to admire the thinking of the organizers on deciding that the way to make this dangerous activity safer, you need big people tackling you at the end.
