While I agree with the intent, this seems like rather ineffectual rhetoric to me. The fact that 40% of the population are mothers, and most of them have had an abortion, does no do much to address the issues people have with abortion.

The problem is it's not "politically feasible" to make the obvious point that their is not rational reason to oppose abortion up to 20wks, or in cases of terminal congenital conditions, or where the health of the mother is at risk. If this was sayable then we have to acknowledge that, the theistic counter arguments are irrational, and nobody in politics wants to get caught saying that.

Let us be clear the vast majority of late term abortions are cases of terminal congenital conditions, or medical needs of the mother (like going on chemo) nobody who does not want to have a baby waits that long unless they are dirt poor and all the doctors willing to perform one have been run out of town by operation rescue.

70% of unmarried black women in the US in 2004 had given birth to children while unmarried, but it is not the case that 70% of black children are born to unwed mothers. This number is going down, and has been since the early '90s. Black women are also much less likely to take advantage of abortion services, so that could very easily be the cause of the disparity between 68.8% for unwed black women and 30.5% for unwed white women.

The '96 welfare reform bill pulled back a lot of gov assistance to single mothers, and somehow magical caused a drop in unwed pregnancy.. starting FOUR YEARS BEFORE it was passed.
