Eric Clapton: Terraplane Blues

I got Clapton's "Me and Mr. Johnson" CD as soon as it came out. You can feel Clapton's love for this music from the first beat... it's damn near magical.
choggiesays...

Johnson recorded everything he ever would, in a couple of days, in a two different Texas hotels, in makeshift recording studios set up on the spot(in the old days, the cutting machine had to be there, with the artist).....he got paid, dick.

Two guys needed here, to get the sound that Johnson could get out of one guitar.

Does Clapton cover every Robert Johnson track, or is it only a few?...Johnson only laid down 30 tracks in his short life...

."My doorknob keeps on turnin', there must be spooks around my bed..."

mlxsays...

Can't say for sure that he's recorded every Johnson song, but I bet he's played them all... "It is a remarkable thing to have been driven and influenced all of my life by the work of one man," Clapton said. "I think of it as a landmark that I navigate by, whenever I feel myself going adrift. Up until I heard his music, everything I had ever heard seemed as if it was dressed up for a shop window somewhere. At first, it scared me in its intensity, and I could only take it in small doses. I could never really get away from it, and in the end, it spoiled me for everything else."

Lots of youtube goodness from Clapton's Robert J. Sessions DVD: check out Life's work where Clapton talks about just how hard it is to play these brilliant songs.
