Mr Brian Bates (video vigilante) was arrested for -- - wait for it --- pimping! Here's smoking gun's scoop on Bates:

"..was arrested yesterday for allegedly paying hookers to ensure that they serviced customers in an area where he could easily film the illicit trysts."

To begin with I don't agree with Mr Bates' tactics in general but what pissed me off further about this video was how titalated Bates seems to be on catching the 'john' in the act. If he truly found prostitution disgusting I doubt he would have engaged the 'john' in that rather salacious dialogue.

--- EDIT ---
Bates was arrested for pimping in 2005 and he is still active in this vigilante business. So it is possible that he was cleared of the charges.

This is why prostitution should be legal. Get the girls and the Johns off of the damn streets, and off of the neighborhoods and put them in proper areas away from families and children. Then the girls can get more money, and they can practice safer sex in privacy, get help for drug problems or whatever. Why the hell is it illegal to pay for something that is completely natural to do for free? The prohibition of it, like the prohibition of anything, just leads to undue criminality and black markets. You only need to look to the Bunny Ranch in Nevada to see that prostitution legalization works.

In the meantime though, I guess I have to give this guy props for protecting his neighborhood and family. However, I'm torn because of the over-the-top immortalized humiliation and exposure that wasn't really necessary for this poor bastard who made a mistake and will suffer maybe more than he should.

This video vigilante fellow seems to be quite the self-righteous twat. Nobody was being harmed by Mr Lowe's actions.

It is acceptance of our differences that makes for a richness of life.

Moral? If you're going to take a prostitute in the back of a truck in a restaurant parking lot, get a lock for the door!

Well, really the fact that these prostitutes are standing around taking Johns around this neighborhood (it looks like a park) where children and families are playing does in fact affect property values, and probably the organized crime rate around the neighborhood. If I owned a house in that neighborhood, I'd be livid. Which is why, as I said above, prostitution should be legal and put where it belongs, away from family neighborhoods, discretely and without a criminal element involved.

But since this dirtbag is orchestrating the whole thing as a money making scam, then the whole fucking thing goes out the window in this specific case. Still, my position stands.
