A solder has a message for Mr. Obama
shuacsays...

Yeah, there aren't too many two-dimensional thinkers here at the sift to whom this fellow's plea would resonate.

"It happened to me, therefore it must be right." Hmmmmm, alrighty then.

And could the turn-and-walk-away-from-the-camera move be more contrived?

rougysays...

Fucking idiot.

Self-serving son of a bitch.

There are 1,000,000 Iraqi's dead now who were alive in 2002.

There are about 3,000,000 Iraqi's who had to leave the country, and most of them are living in refugee camps.

And that asshole thinks Iraq is better off?

Is that what it is, closed-mindedness? Yes, he sacrificed a great deal in the performance of his job. It's too bad that the military is beholden to this particular commander and chief. It's good that he believes in the cause that he sacrificed his leg for, and I don't want to challenge those beliefs, buuuuuuut...

...You sacrificed yourself for their avarice and arrogance, in a war no-one but tyrants and corporations want. Maybe spreading "freedom" and "democracy" had something to do with it, but it's not even third on the list. Sorry. Glad you weren't killed, like so many are.

By this logic there were much better countries to invade than Iraq. Saudi Arabia, for example. Or maybe we should have invaded the several dozen countries that exist under brutal and oppressive regimes.

sigh I was hoping to spread this message but apparently people who jumped onto the obamawagon are too closed mind to think for themselves.

I think it's the exact opposite. People are able to think for themselves and realize that they can be patriotic, love their country and respect those who serve in the military without supporting this war.

You're the one with the closed mind.

Our military isn't supposed to be used to help oil companies steal oil fields and install puppet governments.

shuacsays...

You know, Wolfy, you may not believe this but if a democrat had pulled the same shit as Bush, all of us would be singing the same tune we're singing today. Well, many of us anyway.

I'll turn that statement upside-down and say that HE is close-minded, because he cannot accept the the Iraq war is a huge mistake. That war has very little to do with freedom or even the Iraqi people - it has to do with oil and the retention of power by a neo-conservative machine that slowly but surely undermine the constitution, the geneva convention and basic human rights to keep their power.

It is your right to free speech, but it is also our right to disagree.

There is no successful way to overthrow a government... and expect the nation to recover... some one will take advantage of them.

Eventually countries come to the realization that the nice guy... is not so nice.

IE Blackwater, and all the mercenaries giving the military a bad name.

Much like here in the US.

There have been reactions to this video around the interworld suggesting that it's a puppet-piece, backed by a campaign or other political machine, which are entirely unsubstantiated. Apparently this is really how this man feels, and if anybody has earned the right to be heard it's him. Turns out I didn't help much.
