Dana Perino: Men know more about war "by osmosis"

White House Press Secretary Dana Perino has a hard time learning military jargon because she's just a girl. According to her, men learn war terminology "by osmosis". Another awesome feminist icon from the Bush administration. Credit: She's still better and smarter than Humpty Dumpty Scott McClellan.

^Word, brother schmawy.

My point was not to shame anyone for not knowing military jargon. It was to show how embarrassing she is to women in general when she says that men are better at learning military terminology than women. It's one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard her say. She's brighter and better at the job than the last two assholes who had it, so I was a little stunned she would say something that idiotic and derogatory.

make that military and scientific terminology. i hate when the word osmosis is used incorrectly; if she had said diffusion or absorption or a host of other terms it would have made at least a little sense. maybe if she concentrated, took a sip of water, and filtered her thoughts...

"Osmosis" is a commonly misused term, and her tone of voice indicated that she was using the humorous metaphor rather than the technical term. And the launching of carriers and destroyers was not in the context of missiles, it was in the following statement, obviously in terms of launching a boat. Technically wrong, perhaps, but I see no reason to vilify her.

From the comments, I expected her to be much more of an idiot, and she really wasn't. If I was a feminist I'd be upset at her for the blanket statement about men learning the terms easier, but that's about it. Molehill -> mountain.
