Crown Fire Experiments - Do NOT screw with forest fires

Inspired by thesnipe's post, this is a more detailed description of the forest fire experiments conducted in 1997 in the northwest territories. All I can say is you do NOT want to screw around with a forest fire. 800+ degree temperature increase in less than ten seconds? Holy CRAP.

Simply amazing. First, 200 degrees centigrade inside the shelter is SURVIVABLE?!? Whoa. Every time I saw that, I thought, "Someone's makin' a hot pocket." I'd like to know what they sheltered the video camera with, since the flames that generated the 1000 degrees were right there with the equipment that failed catastrophically.

200 C degrees is about 392 degrees Fahrenheit. How can one survive that?
