Teach kids to be rats instead of helping them to get the self esteem to fight back! Only YOU can help your kids, you've drained too much of their independence with rules and parent/teacher strictness for them to have the independence to help themselves anymore.

Of course when they leave the nest at 30 it's not your problem anymore, so win/win.
