srdsays...Has the cause of the crash been determined yet? It looks like the B2 pulls up too hard during take off and the plane consequently stalls. Pilot error or computer malfunction?
therealblankmansays...Apparently water present on and around the runway caused the flight computers to mis-read the conditions and caused the plane to pitch up at take-off. The Airplane didn't have enough flight speed to maintain that attitude and stalled.

flechettesays...I thought it was faulty sensors?
Stolen straight from cnn's page.
"The Air Force said the first crash of a B-2 stealth bomber was caused by moisture in sensors and estimated the loss of the aircraft at $1.4 billion."
" Water distorted preflight readings in three of the plane's 24 sensors, making the aircraft's control computer force the B-2 to pitch up on takeoff, resulting in a stall and subsequent crash. Carpenter said the pilots and crew followed procedures and "the aircraft actually performed as it was designed. In other words, all the systems were functioning normally."
videosiftbannedmesays...You'll never catch me flying those new "fly-by-wire" planes. Last thing I want is a Divide by 0 error at 50,000 feet.
srdsays...^ You mean like the F-22 bug that surfaced when they crossed the 180th meridian the first time, causing the navigation systems to crash?
I wouldn't fault fly-by-wire or the glass cockpit itself, they do have huge advantages. But I would want to have analogue backup systems and a big red "manual override" button for the just in case case. Programmers and designers are only human and you always overlook something.
