David Attenborough represents my position best in this debate. The debate dances around conservation, but for the most part it's about sustainability. To speak intelligently on the subject requires a varied understanding of ecology, economics, and social issues. One doesn't have to be an expert in all areas to take part in such a debate, but to know enough to understand when to speak and when to listen. The only person who's comments I was disappointed by was Richard Leakey.
