The video looks to be doing ok. Is it possible you have a channel blocked in your preferences?
In reply to this comment by jonny:
No problem. I noticed the first one earlier, but I had already used my once a day instaban, so I just left it for tomorrow. Then I noticed the others in the comments, and figured you might want to track them.
Completely unrelated and sorry to bother you with this, but can you do me a favor? My building demolition video seems to have gone missing from the front page listing. I can navigate straight to it from my profile or a link (like in the previous sentence), and it does show up in the top videos side bar (if you have enough vids in that listing), but it seems to have completely disappeared from the regular front page listing. I just posted it yesterday morning, and it shot right out of the queue, then after a while I noticed it wasn't getting any views, much less votes. I went to the front page to check the competition, and realized it wasn't there at all. I'm wondering if it's something screwy with the vid, or perhaps my prefs have gotten corrupted.
Shame about all the negative feedback on the wiki idea. I think the worries are way overblown, and having a community help/history/cultural document is a really great idea.

Thanks for that - banned and comments redacted. No common subnet. Feel free to instaban in the future - we can always check their IP records post-mortem.

I think we've got a spam bot on the prowl. Three accounts were created tonight that did nothing but leave very similar links on their profile pages:
goughnour
jessikamodal
thonymer88
You may want to look for a common ip subnet in addition to banination. (I already used my instaban once on a spammer earlier today.)

I think it was actually our problem in the end - and affected all Firefox installs - pretty sure Lucky has fixed it now.
In reply to this comment by Deano:
I have to admit I think it's more to do with running the minefield version of Firefox. Gone back to 3.6 for the time being and it all seems reliable now.
In reply to this comment by dag:
Hmm. Really? Try logging on and off and restarting the browser?

I'd love to turn VideoSift into a nonprofit. I had some chats with @Krupo a while back about this a while back - unfortunately inertia got the better of me.
In reply to this comment by JiggaJonson:
Not to interrupt your shit slinging w throbbin but I wasn't at home when u posted the state of the sift sifttalk post. Anyway I wondered if having a nonprofit status was an option at all. I don't know exactly what the implications would be legally but as far as I know, to become a nonprofit you have to provide a social, educational, religious, or cultural service for no charge.
You would still be able to sell ad space and I've heard of schools selling ads on like tests. We'd be able to take advantage of all kinds of non for profit perks like goodsearch.com and skip out on taxes etc. Just a thought that deserves some consideration IMHO.

Count the difference between european countries and the US in roads per country. I'd be willing to be a shit ton of money we have more. Between road signs and mile markers alone, that is literally millions and millions of signs to be changed. You think we want to pay more taxes to switch something that doesn't have to be switched? Fuck that. They already take enough of my money. It all comes down to money. There is no argument that has more impact on this than money. You can keep flapping your gums about it and keep calling us laggards, but you'll always be wrong.
Yes, frogs. I hate the french. Rank assholes. They need to come to the new age and learn to use some fucking soap. Yes I've been there. It's filthy.>> ^Throbbin:
I say hogwash. Many folks in Europe used SI, and they switched regardless of their financial investment. Americans think they're so special, when in reality they are laggards in this regard. Just because some frog says so? Really? Is the American worldview so jaded and conceited that the messenger is more important than the merits of the message itself?>> ^Sigh:
The only reason metric was adopted in Europe was so everyone could count on their fingers and toes.
To the actual topic, what's the difference with how computers are in almost every aspect of life. Calculations done by hand are a thing of the past. The only thing people are interested in is the answer. If a scientist is working in his lab and something comes out in feet and inches, he uses that. If its in meters, he uses that. You think he cares what his measurements units are? No. He cares about the results. Saying miscalculations are more prevalent in computers using non-metric systems would be as dumb as this argument.
If computers didn't run our lives metric would make sense. I'm an engineer, base 10 systems exist everywhere around us and I use it everyday. Why did feet and inches survive? Computers. If I have something measured in inches, I put the inches into the computer and change the units. Does it make it harder for me to hit enter to get my answer? Not at all.
If armageddon comes and sends us back to the stone age maybe metric will be used everywhere. It's not about stubbornness. It's about a lack of caring. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Since everyone in the US mainly uses it, they won't change it. If they did change it, aside from making new tape measures and thermometers, it wouldn't make a difference. Life would go on. You think people are going to buy new tape measures and thermometers just because some frog says so? Think again.
From another applied standpoint, buildings, roads and almost all construction is based off the Imperial system. Sheetrock is 4 feet, studs in a wall are made to fit this. Ceiling, 2x4s and roof supports are all made based on this system. That's another change of an entire industry of materials.
Practical application does not outweigh financial investment. At least not in today's world.

"Maybe you finally got the sand out of that black vagina of yours." Please ratchet down the racial epithets. It's bad for the Sift. Thanks.
In reply to this comment by JiggaJonson:
That's weird, I must have a memory that is either more functional than yours or I'm more conscientious when it comes to the conversations I have because I remember conversations, big and small, vividly. Either way, i still feel like you were in the wrong in our discussion. Dig it up if you need a reminder or brush it off if you don't care about it. Maybe you finally got the sand out of that black vagina of yours.
Also, in case you havnt caught on yet, most of what i say is extremely sarcastic.
In reply to this comment by burdturgler:
Honestly, I barely remember you. I guess I was arguing with you about you using "nigger" or calling me a nigger? Let me go dig it up so I can remember whatever it is that you never let go of. In any event, rest assured, I certainly don't care enough about you to actually hate you.
I said *notquality because I think it's a shitty idea. And I thought it would be an ironic way to convey the message. That's it. No hidden hatred.
In reply to this comment by JiggaJonson:
Do you still hate me because of the nigger thing?
