I've heard from a person or two on here that China is a libertarian paradise because of the bad business practices, etc. They really don't understand free societies vs. communist statism, obviously. This is another example how government, always corruptible (ALWAYS!), uses its monopoly on violence to keep its people living in squalor and fear.
In reply to this comment by GeeSussFreeK:
Governments manage pollution best! I submit this as evidence.

Yeah, I heard about this, but never read it. Interesting. If you're a celebrity, they want to keep you quiet. Of course. But let Joe Shmoe get his junk fondled and it's business as usual.

Great to hear. It's also an awesome book. I wish the best for you and your family, pb!
In reply to this comment by peggedbea:
i did get him this book btw, and i've been reading it to him during visiting hours. it's an excellent book. oh and he's officially out his coma today, still can't breath on his own and has chest tubes and pericardial drains and what not, but is responding purposefully. so yeah!
and thanks for the suggestion.

That's a sad story. Well, if he's in his 50s, then he probably remembers being a young boy in the 60s pre-Wal*Mart era, so I'd recommend an awesome book called Boy's Life by Robert R. McCammon. It's one of the best books I've ever read. It's a story about the magic of childhood, and it's fantastic.

Let me reach into my bag of statist apologist replies and see what I can find... If you would've just played by the rules. Pay your fair share. It's the law! That's because of deregulation or tax cuts. Driving is a privilege. And so on.
That really sucks, GeeSuss. Traffic violations should be done away with. Or at least kept at a reasonable penalty. In a matter of three weeks, my fiancée and I got two parking tickets that were $65 and $55. That's an incredibly high cost for parking on my neighborhood street. That's right, in front of my own home I got those tickets.
There's a guy who has beaten a shitload of these types of tickets using the legal system to show the hypocrisy of traffic court. He's got a bunch of free information (and some court scripts that cost money) on his site: http://marcstevens.net/
I've also posted a couple of his videos. http://videosift.com/search?q=marc+stevens
In reply to this comment by GeeSussFreeK:
Tell me about it, I got a ticket for driving without insurance about 5 years ago right as I was moving. I forgot about it and it has ballooned into over 4 thousand dollars in fines that I have to pay before they will let me renew my licensee; the licensee I need to keep the job I need to pay the fines for the ticket I got half a decade ago...FML, and FTG (fudge the gobment!)

Yeah, and notice how statist apologists would see this as something that just needs a minor tweaking to make right. Government is force and violence and has no capacity for eloquence and temperance.

I don't understand how you can make this comment, then a day after that make this comment.
Do you not think Ron Paul would detest this sort of behavior in a public servant?

As much as I dont agree with your assertions about statism, I thought you'd be just as outraged as I was at this http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/31/peter-mcfarland-tased-in-own-home-after-fall_n_701225.html
It's a fate I wish on all statists.
Seriously though, when I watch videos of the cops breaking into people's home for a drug raid and shooting their dog, I feel somewhere deep inside that I wish every person who supports this system that ever had a glass of wine, a sip of beer, a smoke of marijuana or used any mind altering drugs could experience having the cops bust into their home at 2am and shooting their dog. Obviously, I don't want this to happen to anyone, but sometimes deep inside I faintly do.
