Enhanced South Tower Image W/Explanation

^this is quite a telling social experiment-We can see here how in the one camp, we have name-calling, sophomoric rants on the impossibility of a premeditated demolition which indicate the stages of grief stopping off at denial tinctured with rage. In another, a thoughtful yet equally as sardonic rant complete with multimedia assist, not unlike the complete bullshit promulgated by some "official" entity charged with telling the robots and wage slaves what to think and how to think. Then comes the lighthearted, "laugh it the fuck out of my consciousness" type who would rather self medicate, masturbate, and practice being clever, than to have to wipe their own ass....

Let's keep the ball rolling monkeys, you're all performing predictably well considering it has been nearly a short decade since the ultimate fist-fuck of America occurred, without a doubt perpetrated by the CIA-created Al Kendra and her Unwashed Sand-Dwelling Baddies...

Only one thing to be thankful for considering these increeedible revelations contained in this clip...That we live here and now before the place is turned into the biggest corporate clusterfuck in history.

WHEN will Life as Art transform society from a lump that can be seen from space of do-nothing wage slaves and robots into humans being?

I suppose there's no good system. Still, I think we should welcome all. Inscribed on the Statue of Liberty:

And I'll turn them into wage slaves!

Responsibility to the Poor

NetRunner says...

I'm glad that he admitted that it's our responsibility to take care of the poor. Let's take a look at what the effect of people coming together in a social contract to take care of them was:

http://yglesias.thinkprogress.org/archives/2009/07/poverty-will-always-be-with-us-until-we-do-something-about-it.php

(quoted for the graph, though Yglesias is responding to another ideological yarn-spinner in Friedman's vein)

Curious how when the welfare state got put in place, the poverty rate went down...until we had a President who believed, as Friedman did, that it's better to let poverty be. That way the rich have their liberty from incentives to make the poor productive, and the poor had the liberty to be kept by them as wage slaves or just die and reduce the "surplus" population.

In fact, you can see that the very year in which Friedman is giving this speech, 1978, poverty had literally been halved in the wake of the Great Society, only to rise again when his kind of thinking came back into vogue thanks to Reagan's apocryphal Welfare Queens.

Personally, I love the way he waves away government's responsibility to the poor by comparing it to the building's responsibility. I suppose government has no responsibility to repay its debts (as buildings do not), to respect the boundaries of property (as buildings do not), or the responsibility to only shoot when absolutely necessary (as buildings do not).

Turns out, government has no need to be responsible at all. I would guess this guy also taught John Yoo in law school.

How to make the "Merovingian Knot" in your necktie

Now to only find some kind of evolutionary advantage to neckties...

You got me curious. I did a little searching to see if ties ever had any function besides being a fashion item. I thought maybe they used to be used to wipe sweat off your face or blow your nose or something, but no, it pretty much started out as a fashion piece going back to ancient Egypt as a way to show ones social status.

I found some other interesting things about ties that I didn't know, like wearing ties can be hazardous to your health.

Doctors in British hospitals are not allowed to wear ties when seeing patients because they are a good place for bacteria to cling to and cause cross contamination of patients. Ties aren't washed as often, so they're like little hotels for bacteria.

As a spokesperson for the British Department of Health pointed out, however, ties perform no useful function and their colonies of dangerous bacteria may spread infections within a hospital. [link]

A boy spent three days in hospital after his school tie was tightly pulled round his neck in a prank called the 'peanut'.

The 13-year-old student was stretchered away and taken to a specialist spinal injuries unit after he was set upon as a joke at Oxted County School in Surrey.

The victim, who is currently recovering at home after being treated at East Surrey Hospital, has been left so traumatised that he's too frightened to wear a tie in fear that the prank will happen again.

...The prank involves yanking a tie downwards so the knot tightens to the size of a peanut.

I thought this was kind of funny from the Wikipedia article: Neckties are viewed by various sub and counter culture movements as being a symbol of submission and slavery (ie having a symbolic chain around ones neck) to the corrupt elite of society, as a "wage-slave". [link]

I just don't like wearing ties because they are uncomfortable, serve no purpose and get in the way.

Wal-Mart: Political bully

dystopianfuturetoday says...

^That is how corporations view Unions, but why not look at them from a working class perspective. Unions empower individual workers, who would otherwise be bullied and abused by management, by forming a collective with the power to negotiate. They are a necessary counterbalance to the extreme power of corporations, who would just assume have wage slaves. Employer-Employee relationships at Walmart are currently a boot on the throat, so I'm not exactly sure how forming a Union would make things any worse. BTW, Unions are responsible for the weekend, overtime and the middle class.

Ok JAPR, "“(4) Ideologically based violence.—

“The term ‘ideologically based violence’ means the use, planned use, or threatened use of force or violence by a group or individual to promote the group or individual’s political, religious, or social beliefs."

What the fuck do you suppose this means, as opposed to what you think it may mean.

ask yourself the reasons for the need for an act like this....is it cause the radical Muslims are gonna get us? OR, the government is afraid of a civil uprising that could mean a house-cleaning to root out both the Democrats and Republicans in Congress who want to see this bill law or others out there who want to re-instill democratic principles originally defined by some serious politicians and statesmen, like the founders were.

I might want to encourage folks to stop paying their income taxes, and actually get a few to do it, would you call me a criminal, or would you call a system put in place to cover war costs in the 40's, and never suspended, criminal?

The real fuck all, is who gives a damn anyhow, we're to busy wage slaving to give a fuck anyhow.....

Domo Kun

raven says...

funny story from my days as a wage-slave at a store specializing in anime... as this cartoon has never aired here in america most people know domo-jun from this fun little viral .jpeg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:God-kills-kitten.jpg) that made its rounds in email about four years ago. As a result, we moved quite a lot of domo-kun product: key chains, plushies, notepads, etc... snapped up by a lot of high schoolers who had no idea what the cartoon was other than it was that big brown square guy from the masturbation ad, ha ha! What fun!!
Anyway, long story short, we kept reordering domo-kun products at a fairly fast rate, to the point that the distributor asked the store's translator several times why domo was so popular in a country that had never aired it... unfortunatly, she never had the balls to tell him.
