Codex Alimentarius
Okay, I watched it in bits and pieces, and though it is worth viewing, I still find myself largely in agreement with what snoozie said. People who who claim that the FDA is suppressing effective therapies usually have market-driven agendas of their own. The natural and herbal supplements industry is a multi-billion dollar one. Maybe they're not as big as the pharmaceuticals industry, but they're no underdog. How have "natural" supplements gone unregulated for so long if it weren't for the clout they have in lobbying?
Antidepressants are a sticky wicket. Though what snoozie said about eating right, exercising, etc. holds true for a large segment of the population, there is also a small segment of the population that battles chronic depression even with doing everything right. I am one such person. Though living well can help my mood a lot, even then I still have days when I see the world through blue-colored glasses. I'm pretty sure it's a genetic predisposition, as there are a disproportionate number of family members on my mother's side of the family with mood disorders, with most of those cases being depression. My depression has gotten severe a couple of times in my life, and both times it happened after I went off my meds for a while. Getting back on them was the only thing that brought me out of the darkness. I've stayed on antidepressants ever since my son was born, because he deserves a dad who isn't teetering on institutionalization.
I believe I understand snoozie's point though about antidepressants being bad for some people, in that if a bipolar patient is misdiagnosed with unipolar depression the outcome could be catastrophic. Hopefully a good clinician can recognize the difference, but that's not always the case. Doctors make mistakes too.
Now I've rambled on too long as well. My friend's going to wonder why I came to visit if I stay on the computer much longer. Ciao.
Matthew Good Rants - Tits and Ass
Matthew Good Band "Underdogs".. one of the most underrated albums of all time if you ask me. Each song is classic in its own way.

I know this isn't the Sift party line but I agree with the Fox puppet. Paul is a great candidate, I'd vote for him if I was American, but the sad truth is, he won't win any elections. He won't win any primaries. Electability might be a stupid phrase but the puppet is right, Paul ain't got it. He's smart, logical and consistent - that's not what the voters want!'
Don't you see the chicken/egg situation with RP though? The media is saying "he's not viable" and the people are listening. Imagine if the media did a 180 and painted him as the righteous underdog...
Top/Bottom films of 2007? (Cinema Talk Post)
I (thankfully) haven't seen Underdog or Alvin and the Chipmunks. Funnily enough, David Cross recently posted a fairly long article on his blog justifying his appearance in Alvin and the Chipmunks. The gist of it being that, as much as he'd like to, he can't pay for stuff with his artistic integrity.
Top/Bottom films of 2007? (Cinema Talk Post)
I was so pumped to see "300", and when I finally watched it I was pissed at my friend who strongly recommended it to me.
I haven't seen a whole lot of movies this year, including many on both of your lists. But one that I think belongs in the Bottom 10 for sure is "Underdog". I got conned into taking my little cousin to that one, and afterwards I felt like offering assisted suicide to Jim Belushi for having his career go so far down the toilet that he had to take that piece of shit role. Maybe I read too much into his performance, but to me it looked like he did NOT want to be in that celluloid disgrace for the entire time he was on film. And who could blame him?
Barry Goldwater Jr. supports Ron Paul on FOX
It's amusing how Fox stoically enunciates that it simply provides a forum for the views of the plausible candidates to be heard, when Huckabee's current popularity can be undeniably attributed to his excessive portrayal as the rising underdog by news networks such as Fox.
Obama and Huckabee slam dunk in Iowa, big margin (Election Talk Post)
I'm impressed and confused by how 640 News - an AM radio station, shows up as one of the first on Google News. Canada anyway.

Obama vs. Huckabee. Wow. It's the battle of the 'underdogs' I think many were hoping would occur but didn't think would happen. Definitely interesting.
Hit piece by Neil Cavuto against Ron Paul. Dr Paul Dominates
hit piece? he seemed to pe a Paul supporter, giving him an easy question like that, giving him the opportunity to say all that without interruption.
don't get underdog syndrome, claiming everything is an attack. This was a gentle tickling.
Ron Paul's Money Bomb on CNN

Probably because raising this much money online in 1 day has never been done before by any "underdog". I think John Kerry is the only one to have raised more but that was on the day he got his parties nomination. This woman got out just in time...
I really thought the car had a chance in this video. I guess I always cheer for the underdog.
Church Scene from David Duchovny's show 'Californication'
In fact the first scene in the whole series. I recommend this show to anybody that enjoys witty banter, gratuitous sex and rooting for a slight underdog. The show reversed my disdain for David Duchovny.
There's no need to fear, Underdog is here!

Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty
GREAT game. The first excellent RTS, paved the way for a genre. If you never played this, you missed out. The game was actually much deeper and well done than this trailer lets on.
You can get a freeware, modded version of the game here (but I can't vouch for it):

"Miracle On Ice" 1980 Olympics - newly discovered live call
Well, I was -6 when this game was played, and ever since I can remember I have heard about it. It is the classic underdog triumph in hockey, and probably sporting history in general. And judging by Canada's reaction to winning the 1972 summit series agains the USSR, I would say many would have considered this a political victory over the Soviets as well.
