Joe "it's entirely possible" Rogan

noims says...

Great idea. I've never seen this done before.

I'd love to do a trump 'Trust me' one... if only I had the time, the ability, and the true inclination.

Having said that, it's a cheap and easy jab at anyone's way of talking. I can think of at least three phrases people I know could get me on.

BACON CAUSES CANCER!!!! MCDONALDS IS GIVING FREE CANCER!

Mordhaus says...

So, plant based eaters have Vegan superpowers that prevent colon cancer?

You ridicule my take on statistics, which you are wrong about as the 18% chance still ends up being a 1% chance OVER A LIFETIME, but you think that being Vegan means you will never experience pre-cancerous polyps or full blown colon cancer?

ANYONE can get colon cancer, Vegans still have a lifetime risk of 5% like everyone else. Even the link I quoted says they simply recommend choosing fish, poultry, or beans instead of red meat and processed meat. They DON'T say "GO VEGAN AND NO CANCERS FOREVER LOL".

That is why this is propaganda. The PCRM and it's lead Vegan doctor founder would have you believe that if you go Vegan that all of life's ails would simply be gone. You will never get those nasty sicknesses the meat eating brutes get...without acknowledging that diet is NEVER going to overrule genetic predisposition for certain ailments and conditions. It certainly might help very slightly in the long run, but the PCRM would have you believe that eating meat is equivalent to chainsmoking 4 packs of cigarettes a day, ie, you WILL get cancer if you aren't Vegan.

Trust me, I also understand having people that you love dying sucks. I've lost my entire biological family and many of my wife's family due to various reasons. All I have left is my wife's family and my biological mother. But I also realize that every single person is going to die. I also know that a lot of times that death isn't going to make sense or even be fair. You might be able to salvage a few years by restricting yourself from the pleasures of life, but statistically you still could die in a shitty way.

That is why I don't agree with the Vegan outlook or the ideal they promote that going Vegan will give you the longest lasting life with all happiness. There are many other diets that could provide the same minor edge in extending life, but Vegans typically refuse to acknowledge that. I view them as a pseudo-science cult, much like Breatharians.

Unfortunately there's nothing I can do to stop your comments from appearing once I'm on the page, but they are blanked out. I made the mistake of revealing your comment. But I can assure you I have learned from that mistake.

If you don't like the statistics then take it up with the World Health Organisation.

The other thing is, go and get a colonoscopy. Colon cancer can be symptom-less until spreads to your other organs. You likely already have it, and even if you don't I can guarantee you have the pre-cancerous polyps in there, everyone does, except for plant-based eaters.

While Trump is great at being direct if he's trying to say something self-aggrandizing or racist, he is as much of a weasel as any other politician on specific policy questions, just in his own uniquely dumb way :

"My plan for healthcare is that everyone will be covered and have the best doctors and we'll all save money. Trust me people, I'm the best at health, everyone says that, and you know that's true. You're going to get sick of being so healthy, believe me."

Snow Surfing (no bindings)

ChaosEngine says...

I can't help but feel he would have had a better time strapped in. Maybe the slope was too mellow, but it looked a bit tame to me. I just kept waiting for him to actually ride. Beautiful pow though.

As it was, that was some great footage of some very pedestrian snowboarding (trust me, I'm an expert on being a mediocre snowboarder ).

Honestly, I was more impressed with the drone avoiding the trees.

How Not to Do Brownies

newtboy says...

Yes, and no.
Psychedelic, sure. Total ego death infinite out of body experience, nothing close.
Edibles, smoking flowers, smoking or eating concentrates, no. Trust me, I've tried. ;-)
There's a huge difference between somewhat psychedelic and his description. HUGE.
Is it possible, probably yes, but imo only if he's extraordinarily susceptible to thc (or another cannabinoid)or psychotic episodes (which I think I read can be triggered by marijuana).
It's far more likely if the story is true that he unintentionally took lsd, pcp, or some other long lasting psychedelic (I think dmt wears off too quickly to include it).

Engels said:

Newtboy, are you telling me you've never met anyone first hand that has had a psychedelic-type experience on edibles or just plain smoking flowers? Because although rare, it's still a thing. I've had some, very close to what this guy describes, and a friend of mine has them routinely. Are they strictly speaking hallucinations like under a psychotic episode? Not in my case, since the 'visualization' was in my mind's eye, and I wasn't literally seeing something appear in front of me, but it was psychedelic nonetheless.

Vox: Why the rise of the robots won’t mean the end of work

notarobot jokingly says...

One of the most important components to true artificial intelligence is a capacity for self learning. Constant self improvement at a rate far faster than human evolution.

Occasionally making small, calculated errors, like 'typos,' makes advanced AIs appear more human. More trustworthy.

You trust me, don't you, @newtboy.

Jim Jefferies : Drugs: Fun, But Not Always

Mordhaus says...

Trust me, it has been a topic of discussion. The problem is I am kind of locked into staying here for at least 10 more years. My wife is not going to retire from UT until she is max level on the retirement fund. Plus she is worried about taking care of her parents when they get older, most of her family lives within 100 miles of Austin.

Dude...move to California. You can get oils, tincture, salves, buds, keef, hash, edibles, etc in any concentration you wish...legally, some at the grocery store. I know from experience that it hurts to leave Texas, but trust me, you won't regret it. Just don't go straight to LA or SF.

I would love to be able to get medical marijuana easily in Texas. But the bill they passed in 2015 had so many restrictions it is laughable.

You can only get it if you get low-thc oil. You can only be prescribed it for epilepsy and only then if you haven't responded to federally approved treatments. Assuming you meet those guidelines, you need two different doctors that must be registered with the DPS to both agree that no other medication will help you.

Not bad enough? The state has dragged its feet on actually licensing companies to grow cannabis to make the oil, so that 2 years after the bill was signed a couple of companies are just now able to ramp up production. Then they will need time to convert the product to oil and THEN the state will take some more time to make sure the product 'meets specifications'.

This stupid thing is you can already get low-thc oil on the internet legally that is roughly the same strength. Plus it restricts the most active compound, THC, so it limits drastically who will actually gain any benefit from it.

Since I suffer from two different ailments, both which have been shown to be helped by actual cannabis instead of the oil, I am SOL. I have to take a huge dose of Cymbalta and become zombie-like for a good part of the day, or I can suffer crippling anxiety/depression/fibromyalgia pain. The other fun thing is that the Cymbalta exacerbates my IBS, the other ailment I have that cannabis has been shown to help.

I could cut out a drug with horrible side effects and take a natural drug that could help every single symptom I have, with the only side effects being paranoia and the munchies. But then the pharma company would miss out on the roughly one grand a month that my pills cost my insurance. Can't have that!

PS: That price is for generic Cymbalta now that it is available. Originally it was closer to 2k a month for name brand. Another fun side effect? Cymbalta also fucks up your sex drive, sometimes making you impotent but more frequently making it nigh impossible to orgasm. So you can get erect as a male, but good luck finishing.

Racist is what you do, not what you say.

C-note says...

american's out source so much already. It is as if the sense of entitlement one has to demand another to do work for little or no compensation continues from the founding of the country on the backs of slaves to the present day.

The fact that no white male police officer has ever been convicted for murdering a black male in america's entire history will sadly remain a fact until the day you die. You have your entire lifetime to accept it or live in denial. So have a cookie. Trust me by the time you finish eating it you will feel better.

newtboy said:

If you want anyone else to consider your salacious claim a fact, you must back it up. I was perfectly prepared to be on board, given some evidence, but certainly not based solely on someone's unsupported internet claim.
The fact that you still can't offer a shred of the proof you claimed would take seconds to find means it's even less likely to be true, and far more likely you just spouted some bullshit and won't admit it.
The fact that you keep making the same non argument that invalidates your own position means it's almost certain you're a troll, because the only alternative is you are the most dense person I've ever conversed with.
Thanks for the laughs.
