Taekwondo Tykes
This is very cute but you have your facts wrong though. They are competing in Taekwondo and not kickboxing. The commands are in Korean and the chest protector and helmet are the official WTF TKD protectors. I mean even the sign at 2:20 says Taekwondo match... but it is ok dystopianfuturetoday. I like you anyway

UFC < Pride
@GenjiKilpatrick No I don't like the UFC because they have so many rules which benefits ground fighters. As I stated. Please don't put words in my mouth. If I disliked them because I felt that people should be allowed to paralyse each other I would have written that, as in "I don't like the UFC because they don't allow fighters to paralyse each other.", I did not. (Well, until I wrote that example.)
Although the fights would be a lot shorter if they did (People doing the guillotine would go for snap and not tap.)
Also broken bones happen from time to time when you fight whether it is allowed or not. The latest I can recall is the fight between Lidell and Franklin where a standing kick broke Franklin's arm but he kept on fighting anyway. Another example would be a former club mate (not former due to events described here) of mine who broke his arm in the first round of a WTF Taekwondo fight from blocking a kick and he fought the rest of the match with a broken arm.
@ghark Nope, no trolls here. I even checked under the sofa
@ToKeyMonsTeR Thank you. The problem is that MMA has become a style so every single fighter fights exactly the same way, using the same 10 techniques that everybody else does. This goes against the intent of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) IMO as no one is mixing anything anymore. Heck there are gyms who teach the style MMA which is ridiculous.
@Ryjkyj Thanks and see comment to ToKeyMonsTer
@Contrarian http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-ownership either you agree to it or you don't.
@rottenseed Thanks for the link! It was an interesting read and he makes some valid points in there.
To all a good night/morning/midday/whatever it might be at your location!

Asian Chick's Awesome Hand Ninja

Oh man, the title of this video reminds me of some hipster guy (not that I have anything wrong with "cool" people or whatever label we need to give people who are culturally aware) that pissed me off yesterday. I go to a certain liquor store a couple of times a week and usually there is this korean guy who is the owner working. I went into the liquor store, see this young white kid working the register that I've never seen before. He was kind of awkward in the way that he was overly conscious that he was working in a shitty liquor store - so as he is bagging up my beer I try to make small talk and ask, "where is the asian guy?" I thought it inoffensive enough ; just trying to make the situation less awkward and this kid responds, "what?" and I repeated and he replied "He's Korean." I didn't really give a shit to get into an argument about it considering Korea or South Korea is specified as East Asia. Did I really make a horrible mistake or was this kid just a total dick?
Kid was probably just feeling awkward and blurted out the first thing he thought.
A mediocre translation attempt for anyone who cares :
"How do you do. I would like to show you taekwondo [debatable she does that bit super fast]
"Ready?" [Fighting sounds]
"One more time" [Fighting sounds]
"You also do Taekwondo" [Fighting sounds]
"You too do Taekwondo" [Fighting sounds]
"Then... "
[Counting one to ten while doing press ups]
"Could someone please give me some help?"
Second hand "What would you like me to do?"
"This ____ please" [Couldn't make out the verb ~_~. Could be "hold"]
"Certainly sir"
[More counting]
"Now, are you feeling well?"
"Now, in a moment the champion will arrive" [yay for konglish]
"So, champion has won the belt. What move did you do to win the champions belt?"
Second Hand: "What move did I do?"
"Yup" [Champion hand attacks Sansaengnim hand]
"No, no stop!!"
Second hand: "Cobra Twist!"
[After many listens the only word I can make out is "Animal", Doesn't seem to be a grammatical sentence as it has a noun at the end. so I'm gonna guess "Now I will fight this animal" :-/]
"No no, stop it"
Monster Hand: "Farewell"
Anyway, the language is Korean and the hand dude is supposed to be a taekwondo instructer rather than a karate sensei if you wanna add a tag. Taekwondo doesn't get much love.
As the grumpy hipster said to the shagen454 "[s]He's Korean"
Fastest tornado kick knockout, (Taekwondo vs Kickboxer?)
If you hear anything rattle around, then you know something is broken...like a remote control.

I love how the guy takes a huge blow to the head and then the "medics" rush over and start shaking it...

So the ref needs to check their balls before fights now? Hmmm.
timeshift
In pure TKD tournaments, at least as far as I know with 8 years experience, the fighters get checked prefight that they don't have any piercings which are not taped down, that all the protective gear is legit and not modified and for both men and women they have to make sure they are wearing a cup. Usually the fighter is asked to tap it but the person responsible for the saftey is the controller and if there is doubt they tap it themselves. The fighter then gets a signed paper to give to the ref, sort of like the signature on boxers gloves.
In this open tournament it seems like the ref is the only one checking so he has to tap it as the fighters wear gloves...

Candid Camera Prank Fail
>> ^xxovercastxx:
That guy is a serious asshole. I can understand the 'victim' losing his temper but the Taekwondo mime had no part in it and wasn't even looking when the prank went down. He just sees a guy running from someone else and decides to kick him in the face.
ps. Firefox spell check suggests "Wonderbra" as the correct spelling of Taekwondo.
Totally disagree. Tae Kwon Do mime sees a dude in sunglasses running like a thief would from guy who's yelling after him, makes a judgment call, decides to stop him... very effectively. Most of the force of that hit was the dude running into his foot, anyway. These Candid Camera guys know the risks of fuckin' with people. No sympathy.
Candid Camera Prank Fail
ROFL taekwondo mime is a perfect phrase.

Taekwondo Referee Attacked During Olympic Semi-Final
To be honest, images like this makes me biased.
I suppose Taekwondo is more about skills than merit and descipline. Shame.
