Zelensky Celebrates Signing Security Agreement With The US

newtboy says...

Once again, your grasp of the English language tends to point to who is really stupid here. “Your are stupid”? So close…keep trying, you’ll pass first grade English some day. 😂 😂 😂

They aren’t gaining territory…not for a while. You are over a year behind, and were never right on the facts.

Russia is trying to get Ukraine to agree to the current frontline as the permanent border…they wouldn’t be doing that if they were gaining ground. Ukraine says absolutely not…they wouldn’t be so quick to say no if they were losing territory still.

Russia has made no significant progress since last years Ukrainian counter offensive that granted wasn’t a total success but did drive Russia out of territory they had held…learn to read. Russia now holds approximately 20% of Ukraine, a serious shrinking from the maximum seized territory.
They are being pushed back or at worst held in place by a force that is essentially unarmed (after maggots blocked aid) and under 10% in numbers…and we just rearmed them.
Russia is losing territory they stole, slowly but they are losing. Their spring offensive was not very successful (but was costly) and when the squadrons of F-16s start flying and M1-Abrams start rolling they will be destroyed, they cannot defend against them.
They are now completely insecure in Crimea and may lose it, cannot sail the Black Sea fleet (they are hiding their best ships in Cuba!), and does not have an air force that can compete with F-16s. They are also enjoying attacks deep into the mother country with multiple groups of saboteurs in the country doing major damage daily.
The Russian people no longer support the war, and know the reasons for it were outright lies. The economy is non existent, banks closed, stock market offline, their sons are all dead, injured, in Ukraine, or on the run, their military is completely decimated, their oil infrastructure is being destroyed…and no one is coming to rebuild them , they will remain global pariahs for decades to come. North Korea is supplying their ammunition, and it’s so bad that it is more dangerous for the Russians than the Ukrainians. China and N Korea aren’t going to help rebuild the Russian economy, they can’t. Europe and the US are going to rebuild Ukraine. It will be the shining star of Eurasia.
Ukraine may expand into Russia soon. It’s incredibly likely they will take Crimea back.
Russia overplayed its hand and is so screwed it may actually fold as a country SOON, it has destroyed itself and now that we are actually backing Ukraine (not piecemeal drippings blocked by MAGA every time they can cause damage and help Russia) they have lost, they just won’t admit it yet (kinda like you)….who is surprised you believe they are “WINNING”? They’re “winning” about as much as the convicted felon and rapist has been since November 2020….which is not at all. The tiny temporary territory gains they’ve made this month were so costly they aren’t “wins”. If it costs you 20000 troops and 4 armored divisions to take a town that’s now rubble, and your enemy held you back for months and only lost 1000 troops…. you lost.

Christ your are stupid.

If Russia is Losing as you say, Why are they gaining territory and holding it?

You do know what a map is?

If Russia is losing as you say, Why hasn't Ukraine pushed back the Russians?

Brightburn - Official Trailer 2

Most vocals you hear are fake

vil says...

You can record anything, but please do not pretend to be performing it live if you are not. And if you are forced to pretend, do it in a way that makes it obvious you are pretending, or be prepared to be labeled a fraud and scum of the earth.

If the performances in the video are billed as "celebrity dancing & karaoke" all is perfectly fine.

I find records with one person recognizably singing more than once at the same time weird and uncomfortable, yet hundreds of layers of guitar or synth or percussion noise (by one or two persons) do not faze me. No idea why.

This is all obviously a very pre-sequencer approach to music which must sound really stupid to current computerized generations.

Trump, Parkland and the #NeverAgain Movement: A Closer Look

Houston Cop To Rescuers-"We've Had Enough"

littledragon_79 says...

If he is "following orders", then the top brass needs to get their shit together. There's no reason they can't organize the volunteers and dispatch them so they know who/where they are and what areas have already been helped. But I guess when your town's underwater, fuck help from Yankees.

Part of me wishes the driver would have just said, "There's a nice way to do that". I can't speak for the officer, but on it's face the interaction is shitty. Maybe he's super stressed about his own stuff. Maybe he's upset about having to help others and no one to help him. Maybe he thinks his orders (if there are any) are really stupid and is at odds with his superiors.

Whatever the case, ultimately he ends up doing a poor job of representing his dept., the city, and cops in general. Hope he and others learn.

Terrifying RC Helicopter Breaks Reality

Impressive skills but doing this right next to a road seems really stupid. If you're doing RC stunts, do it in your backyard or an empty field or park or somewhere where a mistake a less likely to a cause a car accident.

The 15 Yr Old Who May Be The First Person On Mars

I'm really impressed with this person, but the whole idea of going to Mars I find really stupid.

Bill Maher and Colbert - Police Culture has to change

Babymech says...

To be honest I didn't read all of your reply because you said you were done, so I don't think you'll respond further I'll just address the tail-end - the noun-switching thing is really stupid.

If I say our police aren't performing to the standards we require, you don't help the dialogue by switching out the word police for 'blacks', 'jews', or 'hydrogen atoms'. For one, a police force is something we choose to have; we have created the police force for specific reasons. These specific reasons come with minimum requirements, which we need to keep track of to make sure we didn't make the wrong choice. Secondly, we have responsibility for our police force, to make sure they have the training and support to continue to serve their original goals, because nobody gets into police work with the dream of being on the wrong end of a viral video about shooting innocents.

You can't switch out the word police for 'blacks' or 'hydrogen atoms' because that's idiotic. You can switch out the word police for 'nurses,' 'fire fighters,' etc, because those are comparable groups, that we need to monitor, support, and hold accountable.

Nothing of what I say paints every police officer as equally in the wrong. That's like saying it's wrong to sound the alert for occasional nuclear meltdowns, because that ignores all the times we don't have meltdowns. If our reactor works fine 6 days of the week, but has a critical failure once a week, that's a problem, and needs to be addressed, even though the other 6 days are fine.

Lawdeedaw said:

Also, a short note here...and then I am done. I find that any statement I make should be able to switch around nouns and if it sounds horrible with another noun in its place, you probably don't a statement worth shit.

For example, "Blacks are thugs." Replace that with, "Police are thugs." The statement itself is stupid, regardless of who it is applied too. Your statement about seeing what the police really do...like saying we see what blacks really do...is worthless....mostly because it claims them all into one group of equal do-evil.

Hi there doll! I am a new member and I am trying to figure out how this all works. I used to be on this site all the time with my ex, just not clear on a few things. Where do I find this info, I feel like it is a really stupid question, but I am not seeing it. I always thought your comments to him were great, so I figured it was worth a shot asking you. Thanks!

Base jumping squirrel is a little nuts

MonkeySpank says...

Back in '88, my admirably stupid cat randomly jumped off the sixth floor window of our apartment into the concrete sidewalk below. There was not even a scratch on him and he didn't look phased by it. Then again, he was really really stupid.

Cameraman on a Segway takes out Usain Bolt

Fairbs says...

That's the first time I've ever seen someone driving a Segway at a sporting event. I'm not trying to contest your assertion here, I just haven't seen it. To me it still seems like a really stupid idea and irresponsible both for the camera person and the employer. Drive this vehicle, but don't pay attention to where you're driving so you can get that 'shot' that you could have gotten had you been walking. Not to stir the pot too much, but if there are thousands of people doing this, I'm surprised other athletes haven't also been assaulted by out of control Segways.

ChaosEngine said:

Once again, it is literally his job description to look somewhere other than the direction he's going. Thousands of camerapeople do this at sporting events the world over. If you have an issue with that, it's the employer's fault, not the guy who was just doing his job.

Now, that said, even though it's an accident, he's certainly responsible and more importantly, liable (although technically, I'd imagine the liability would fall on his employer).

None of which would excuse punching the guy. If Bolt had punched him, "feeling bad about it afterwards" would be the least of his problems. Obviously, it depends on the jurisdiction, but generally, losing your temper is not an acceptable defence for assault, unless he had reasonable grounds to say that he was defending himself somehow.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: LGBT Discrimination

MilkmanDan says...

I have to admit that I'm partially on the "wrong" side of this one.

Housing, not being fired for being gay, that kind of stuff, I'm with John Oliver 100%.

But restaurants, bakers, etc. ... I dunno, I'm a little torn.

Places like Big Earl's in the clip put up a sign that says "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason". I tend to think that is a right that we should allow private businesses (NOT things that are set up for the public good like utilities, gas stations, govt. agencies, whatever) to have.

That is NOT to say that I approve of the way that these clowns exercise that right. Dude doesn't want to make cakes for same-sex weddings ... fine. You're a retard, passing up potential customers for a really stupid reason, and also possibly discouraging business from other people that empathize with those that you are denying service to, but ... hey, it is your goddamn business. If you don't want to make a cake for people who's name starts with a Q, I'd support your right to make that (equally dumbass) decision.

Kinda the same thing goes for Big Earl's. That might even be one of the cases where the comfort of your standard clientele (redneck bigots) is potentially more important/beneficial to your bottom line than the potential lost business that your discriminating policy causes. In other words, from a purely capitalistic viewpoint, the policy might be a net positive to the business. Maybe.

The one thing that gives me pause on those more private businesses being allowed to "deny service to anyone for any reason" is shifting from LGBT equality to race equality. If that cake maker refused to make cakes for a black wedding, I'd be more accepting that we need some government intervention. I know that my opinion should be the same in both instances, but I can only honestly admit that at the gut level, I have a different reaction to those 2 scenarios.

I sorta think that even the racist cake-maker should be allowed to continue to be racist (so long as we're talking cakes, and not something more *necessary* to public good), because a racist cake maker will probably put themselves out of business without the need for any government intervention. BUT, I'm sure there are places in the US where that wouldn't have been true (and where it wouldn't be true today), and we needed the push of federal mandate to force such people to remove heads from asses. Maybe the same thing is true for LGBT discrimination.

But I do still feel conflicted about it. Even though I know I shouldn't.

Interstellar - Honest Trailers

ChaosEngine says...

"It's not that we don't understand it, it's just really stupid"

THIS.... for the love of all that is good and holy.... THIS.

The whole "love is a quantifiable force" thing made me want to throw up.

Look, I understand most of the science. Frankly, if the movie is good, I really don't care if the science is accurate. And Interstellar, to it's credit, puts in a lot of good work before it goes "full blown Shyamalan" (the water planet / relativity aspect being the best bit).

But it's just such a mediocre story...

Someone stole naked pictures of me. This is what I did about

bareboards2 says...

Naked pictures are not really the issue.

If her pictures had been stolen and looked at, but she didn't KNOW that they had been seen, her psychological damage from this theft would have been very different. Wondering who has seen them, being uncomfortable when meeting someone -- has this person seen them? That person? Not happy, not cool. And, in fact, she took back that particular psychological assault by posting this video and claiming her naked body for herself. Here. Look. I want you to look. It's my body and it is a fine body.

The real damage are the personal attacks, exposing personal information, attempted blackmail, active psychological assaults on her mind.

You guys can have your intellectual conversation about the cloud and how to protect yourself.

But that is not the problem.

I had to stop reading the comment stream when I realized it was starting to include crap about -- oh this isn't misogyny, this isn't hatred.

Yes. It is. It is violence against women, and this woman in particular.

And when you ignore that, and focus on the fact that she had made something that was vulnerable to theft... well, we get back to that feminist/humanist trope of -- you are part of the problem. #Not All Men? Well, men who focus on immaterialities while a violent psychological assault is taking place? I'd say #Those Men.

I know you don't mean any harm. I know you aren't #Those Men, not really. But I'm here to tell you that there is new harm being committed when you ignore the actual violent psychological crimes.

I am aware that some of what I have written might sound really stupid in light of the above comments, since I didn't read them. I'm okay with that. It is better than subjecting myself to what feels like an additional violation.

SDGundamX said:

We're talking about two different things.

She is not responsible for someone deciding to steal and post the photos nor is she responsible for cretinous emails she later received.

She IS responsible for 1) taking the photos and 2) posting those photos in a place that made it likely they would be leaked (i.e. Facebook).

She's not responsible for the crime, but it should have been foreseeable that her actions were likely to result in the photos being made public someday (whether by a hacker, a jealous ex-lover, a stolen/misplaced laptop, etc.). So, she's a victim of a crime (which is deserving of compassion) and at the same time she's also a victim of her own actions (which is deserving of pity but possibly also deserving of some criticism for not thinking things through).

I suppose throughout this thread I've been a bit dismayed by the idea that we can't criticize her actions because she's been the victim of a crime. If she wasn't a victim of a crime but instead posted a video about how she takes naked pictures of herself and posts them to Facebook, would it still be wrong to point out that she clearly wasn't thinking things through about how much higher the odds are these days of personal info being leaked online?
