Poor Japan. Getting hammered by quakes too a day later! Japan is strong though! They're used to these.

Knowing Japan they will work together and have it all cleaned up in about 2 weeks.

Animated map: all earthquakes of the past 15 years

That is the one thing i looked for when watching this. All the quakes i'd heard about in the midwest from fracking.

KrazyKat42 said:

If you look at Oklahoma in the beginning and then 2014+ you can see all the earthquakes caused from deep-well injection of all the fracking fluid.

QUAKE: Forefather of the Online Deathmatch-LORE in a Minute

Ah nostalgia. I bought a Canopus Pure 3D II for playing Quake. Soooo much fun. Even had my own cable modem back then that I paid for with money from my first job because my parents were sick of me tying up the phone line all the time with my USR 56k.

If You Detonated a Nuclear Bomb In The Marianas Trench

Lambozo says...

You all are right to call BS on this video. Its trash.

The earthquake that caused the 2004 tsunami in Sumatra released a total of 9 600 000 megatons of energy....that's a bit more than 50 megatons. I don't know though, I'm not a math major.

This earthquake didn't make new continents, nor did it cause an ice age by pushing earth a significant distance away from the sun. So I'm going to guess that neither would this bomb.

The portion of the 2004 earthquake's total energy that was released on the surface of the sea floor was only 26 megatons and it was released a lot less quickly than the detonation of the Tsar bomba, I'll give ya that.

Probably generate a Tsunami, but not a large one. Large natural tsunamis, like those in 2004 and 2011, are generated by very sudden movement of the ocean floor over a large area; the 2004 Sumatra quake lifted the sea floor several meters, very rapidly, along a 1600 km long section of fault, displacing a total of 30 cubic kilometers of water. Google "what does a cubic kilometer look like". Its a lot of water.

Not sure if the bomb can move that much water at a single site; I don't think it replicates the right "mechanics" of large scale tsunami generation....

I think the same for me. I remember Blue's News on dial-up in college. I think I was visiting his former Quake News too!

Elon Musk's 'Dota 2' Experiment is Disrupting Esports

Does anyone remember the early days of bots in FPS games? I'm not impressed by the bot winning because of those early FPS bots.

Walk round a corner with an old fashioned Quake 1 bot? BAM you're dead as soon as a pixel of your head appears (headshots existed in QTF); you probably won't even see the bot because of your refresh rate.

The learning is incredibly impressive, but as someone said earlier the impressive thing would be filling in as a player in a 5v5, or maybe a team of them. I'd always expect a bot to win a duel of reactions unless they are programmed to miss. The bot makes its decisions and performs them instantly, so if you make better decisions than it, they still must be better enough that you can beat that huge speed advantage.

Devastating 7.1 Earthquake in Mexico City Live Footage Compi

Earthquake early warning system

The seismic warning system in place during the most recent magnitude-7.1 quake on Sept. 19, which had its epicenter about 75 miles from the country’s capital, successfully gave people crucial time to flee vulnerable buildings, and prepare for the worst. In video from Mexico City, early warning sirens blare for at least 20 seconds before the shaking begins.

Why is there an alarm to let people know there's an earthquake happening? Don't people realize when the ground under their feet starts moving, that's an earthquake?

Mexico City Earthquake collapses building

Crazy coincidence that today was the anniversary of the devastating quake they had back in 1985(8.0/ 5000 dead/ 412 buildings collapsed).

Two hours before today's quake people in the city were going through earthquake drills.
