What Do You Know About Female Anatomy

cloudballoon says...

It was a mock American SAT exam (although I'm a Canadian, and I took the test in a Canadian boarding school right at a border town on Quebec/Maine named Stanstead College). My beef wasn't really with the teacher originally, I just thought the SAT was weird to have such a math question, so I justed wanted to point out there are 2 right answers, and 1 interesting philosophical argument to be had depending of how you look at d)... about how the question/answers were flawed. But with her answer, I couldn't but sneer and thought she was just clueless (instead of both of us had a laugh at the Q... while sipping tea? Stanstead College had a very British tradition).

As she was not the dunce who drafted that stupid question, I was not going to fight her for an inconsequential demerit (on my part or SAT?), nor find it worthwhile to pursuit the higher-ups for a correction.

I say “b” is the “right” answer as it’s more inclusive and includes “c”. Always choose the correct answer with the larger set. (Unless the instructions say choose the CLOSEST answer)
Sometimes in similar cases I would write in “E) both B and C” and be prepared to debate it.
If the teacher refused to consider both answers were correct, I would take it to the administration and get credit (and an apology).
This happened more than once to me in school.

Will Smith smacks Chris Rock on stage at Oscars Uncensored

JiggaJonson says...

I confuse my heroes who are characters with the actors that play them sometimes.
Apparently, Will Smith is not the guy from The Pursuit of Happiness.
Apparently, Will Smith is not Fresh Prince.
Apparently, Will Smith is not that heroic pilot from Independance Day.
Apparently, Will Smith is an asshole.

Love the Academy's statement: "The Academy does not condone violence of any form", and yet they just did. Here's your trophy, congratulations. Pretty gutless. Can't wait for the first angry dad punching out a ref or umpire at his kid's game, and uses the Will Smith defense... "It was a bad joke so I broke his jaw". What an excellent role model.

Let's talk about altering the Supreme Court....

newtboy says...

Meaningless fiction.
In the post Trump era, it’s more likely that aliens will land and offer free telepathic abortions on demand than it is Democrats and Republicans will agree on anything enough for a 2/3 majority. When one party’s entire platform is “obstruct the other party”, constitutional evolution is dead.

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness….that makes abortion a right on all 3 counts, since pregnancy can threaten life, denies liberty, and who could be happy forced to be a life support system for another? Also, the logical extension of that obligation means healthy people forced to donate kidneys, transfuse their blood, repeatedly donate partial livers, etc. …anything that other person needs to live should be the obligation of anyone who can supply it. Same as forced pregnancy. That makes it a constitutional issue, the denial of life, liberty, and property without due process, conviction, or even a crime is addressed in the constitution, and applies here.

To me, the current crop of justices seem to be less willing to deviate from the Constitution as written. Should abortion be allowed? IMO, yes. BUT, are laws banning abortion unconstitutional? According to the Constitution as written and amended, probably not. Roe v Wade was written by a court that believed that abortion and the "right to privacy" should carry the weight of constitutional law, even though the Constitution is silent on these "rights".

My suggestion: If abortion should be considered to be a "right", then so amend the Constitution. Otherwise, it will be subject to the vagaries of "interpretation" forever.

Police Murder Unarmed Shackled Black Man

newtboy says...

It bears noting that police admit they kill at least three citizens a day on average, but that doesn't include all the cases like this where they just lie about how the victims died, so the real number could easily be ten or more per day.

At three per day, their lowball number, that's 1 cop who dies in the line of duty from any cause for over 25 citizens they kill intentionally. The real number could be 1-100 or more.

These lying murderers deserve the death penalty, every one involved and every superior involved in the cover-up. Because prosecutors are on their team and will intentionally throw the cases and not prosecute in earnest, acting like defense attorneys instead of prosecutors, it may be up to private citizens to impose any penalties.
I would never convict a cop killer, it's a near certainty it would be in self defense. They're lucky I'm open and honest about that so can't serve on any jury.

Edit: audio recordings of officers reminiscing about beating and choking the ever loving shit out of him have recently been "found" after over a year of the force hiding all evidence and boldly lying that he died in the minor crash that ended the pursuit. Never take a cop's word about anything, they are all professional liars.

IMPORTANT! YOU ARE BEING MANIPULATED!!!

oblio70 says...

This is an argument contrary to the plethora of Conspiracies swirling around our societal hurricane, instead proclaiming that this can be fixed with the correct motivations and gatekeepers, which have been kept at bay by the pursuit of profits.

So what about the Illuminati/Bilderberg Group, (4) extra-terrestrial alien interventions, lizard people, FEMA-Camp culling, Trump a complete puppet of Putin? Still seeking evidence. Perhaps our demise has been less coordinated beyond their love of money .

The Way We Get Power Is About to Change Forever

TheFreak says...

Here's a thought experiment:

Imagine a power technology emerging that makes the cost of electricity virtually zero and the supply virtually endless.

Since the emergence of life, the task of survival is the quest for energy in one form or another. Most of the critical advancements by humanity have been driven by the need to acquire, distribute and store energy. When you're sitting at your computer being productive for a paycheck, you are serving the same goal as prehistoric hunter-gatherers, you're just doing it via a much more complex system of acquisition and distribution.

The more efficiently we acquire energy, the less effort it takes to satisfy our individual energy needs and the more time we have for other pursuits such as culture and exploration.

What happens when the effort necessary to acquire a life's worth of energy approaches zero?

Nurse Arrested For Not Taking Unconscious Victim's Blood

Mordhaus says...

So it gets worse.

The person they wanted to draw the blood from is a reserve police officer himself, was not even a suspect in the crash, and only got involved in the crash because the other driver was a suspect fleeing from pursuit by other officers.

So they didn't even need the blood really.

Both the detective and his supervisor are suspended on admin review because the detective said he called his supervisor and was told to arrest the nurse.

The Teen - A nordic commercial

SFOGuy says...

This Christmas, after all the economic's critique of the failure of the utility of gift giving---I finally figured one (there are other) purposes of gift giving for me---it's to give permission...Permission for extravagance, for excess, for activities, for pursuits, for...whatever it may be---within the context of the relationship you have with the recipient.

Nice.

How a country slides into despotism (from 1946)

poolcleaner says...

Liberty is the answer. You have to convince Americans that they don't stand for simple freedom, they stand for motherfucking liberty; which accounts for all people, not one people or the other.

Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness...

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Grappler Police Bumper - No more PIT maneuver

ulysses1904 says...

All this James Bond gadgetry works perfectly in controlled test environments. Just like that mobile device that the chase vehicle dispatches to drive under the suspect's car with an antenna to short out the car's electronics and bring it to a stop. I'll believe it when I see any of this used effectively in the chaos of a real world pursuit.

Man Arrested & Punched for Sitting on Mom's Front Porch

Mordhaus says...

Pardon me, shots. It was a criminal level of incompetence. Yet neither the Commander who gave 'conflicting statements'(lied) nor the Officer have been charged with anything, even at this late date. Additionally, something else I forgot was that they let the victim bleed while handcuffed for 20 minutes without providing any first aid or making it a priority that he was treated. It was lucky that he didn't bleed out or go into shock.

But this is the type of thing I am talking about and was referencing to @bareboards2. I mean, I'm white and of Italian descent, so I could do damn near anything to an officer and not be killed. I even conceal carry, although they know that as soon as they see my license or run my plates. Yet we have people of color that are being run rampant over, be it racism or fear of a different culture/people. Like in that video where the guy was shot and the female officer's husband was in the pursuit helicopter saying that he looked like a mean black dude. We simply can't keep this up.

newtboy said:

Took the shots.
He fired 3 times, and missed with all 3 shots if you believe he was shooting at the seated man brandishing a fully automatic toy truck.
That's a criminal level of incompetence if you ask me.
