A Brief History of Israel +

Aemaeth says...

The "tin foil hat" stuff is mostly at the beginning and the end.

Project Paper Clip seemed to about removing Nazi scientists. The conspiracy theories would be that it was actually to remove SS operatives. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Paperclip)

There's a lot of speculation that is stated as fact in the video, such as that Hitler didn't commit suicide after all. This is a link to one such conspiracy site (the front page says, "Your government is poised to inject you with a tracking chip manufactured by Applied Digital Solutions called, "Veri Chip". Don't believe me? Click below, I'll prove it to you.")

Most of the stuff in the middle is fairly accurate, but it's hard to take it all as fact when it is sandwiched in between dodgy stuff (at best). There's also a strange tone that seems to suggest they are putting a spin on it. Using a term like "reign of terror", for example, is always good way to characterize someone without having to give any real evidence of their character.

Palin's "son" Trig is Really her Daughter's

phelixian says...

I don't really care about her belly or lack-there-of. What I care about is the fact that the man who would be the oldest president in history has her poised to be our president. I just don't trust her, I get the sense that she has lied whether it be in trooper-gate or this bump-gate. As for the 5 month thing that is not an exact timeline, she could just have easily gotten pregnant a few weeks after trig's birth. Who uses months at that point a pregnancy? I'll tell you who.... no-one I have 4 friends either pregnant or having just birthed and you always describe how far along you are in weeks. 5 months is an easy way to round.

In the end I really don't care whether this is true or not, but as balabing says McCain's vetting crew(if he even sent one beforehand) really screwed up.

Skeletor, is paraded and poised, in the present, (otherwise suggested with a steady diet of Televomision©), as a choice we all as Americans feel compelled to to offer supplication to, according to the power we think we have under the the influence of the current paradigm..... as an alternative to the other implant fuckstick....Go figure, you all been duped, and watch too much GoddamnTelevision™......

Barack Obama on Religion in the Public Square

eoe says...

It hurts me, sometimes, to hear this guy speak. It's what I think a lot of us have wanted a politician to say for so long. And it's sort of ridiculous that it's taken this long.

I do worry, though. I can't believe anyone this intelligent, poised, and uncorrupt could have made it this far as a politician. The system weeds them out early and often. He must have some dark secret.

Either that, or he did that I had planned to do if I ever considered public office: pretend to be a money-grubbing, corrupt, corporate-whore politician all the way until I hit what I considered my crest. And then I'd Trojan Horse the motherfuckers.

But that wouldn't work anymore these days, since your record sticks with you forever, and boy oh boy doesn't the media love bringing up your past.

Daily Show interview: Terry McAuliffe

RhesusMonk says...

I'm not sure I have any idea *wtf is going on here. The only reason I can think of that she doesn't concede is that there's some complex voting conspiracy poised to guarantee Clinton's election in the fall. I just don't get this thing; there's clearly something going on behind the curtain.

The end (of the Democratic primary) is Nigh (Election Talk Post)

NetRunner says...

I'm thinking she's gonna get told, in pretty uncertain terms that it's over.

Pelosi and Reid seem poised to declare support for Obama on June 4th, and there's a lot of rumors circulating that most of the uncommitted superdels are for Obama, and just waiting for the contests to be over.

Also, a lot of Hillary's staff have been caught on camera admitting Obama's won, and all of them have firmly declared that "we will have a nominee in June", except Carville who hints at both an end, and a convention fight (but he's nuts in his own right).

There's also been some news about the Clinton top advisers taking book deals, which would hamper their ability to do things like run a general election campaign.

I think it's gonna be over in June, maybe even as early as next week.

Question is whether Hillary will exit gracefully, or will need to be dragged away by security.

I'm still holding out hope that she'll step aside gracefully. But I am still worried, because her past behavior has been so consistent about denying reality, I don't see why she'd start accepting reality now.

Taxi to the Dark Side (Full Doc.)

Farhad2000 says...

I agree with your statement Kreegath.

However what is most striking to me is how torture and it's legal application within the current administration goes against American ideals in the 20th century and legally for over 250 years.

During the last century Americans valiantly against these coercive means collectively pointing to them as techniques only utilized by the Nazis, the Khmer Rouge, the VC and the Soviet Union. The US pushed for and developed the Geneva conventions that abolished torture.

But within the span of a few short years they threw out what took decades to create. The Americans no longer can look at themselves as the good guys when it comes to the issue of human rights.

Worst still the President now puts himself above the law, above the house, above the senate, above the supreme court and the American constitution.

Read more at the Washington Monthly.

"In most issues of the Washington Monthly, we favor articles that we hope will launch a debate. In this issue we seek to end one. The unifying message of the articles that follow is, simply, Stop. In the wake of September 11, the United States became a nation that practiced torture. Astonishingly—despite the repudiation of torture by experts and the revelations of Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib—we remain one. As we go to press, President George W. Bush stands poised to veto a measure that would end all use of torture by the United States. His move, we suspect, will provoke only limited outcry. What once was shocking is now ordinary."

Oklahoma State Rep. Goes On Anti-Gay Tirade

choggie says...

Funny you should mention gay and self-hate in the same sentence dag-I have only one thing against homosexuality-lots of the queers I have known, have a large carry-on full of it(as does anyone with perception issues). Others have so much more majorly fucked sensibilities it oozes, and very few are self-actualized, in the sense that they even know themselves well enough to not be either bitter-pills, mean as fuck to straights, or coping affectations ranging from flagrant exhibitionist, to social mole.....

So fuck all, captain planet, yer allowed not to like gay folks as far is goes with me-Plenty of people on this thread are poised to point out another's flaws rather than point the fucking mirror t'wards themselves....

Gay is a combo of the cards yer dealt(genetic/parental), your place in the societal matrix with regard to imprint, and an individual's particular process and perception. There are no facts, there are no models, and there is no one right or wrong attitude, unless one seeks to do unto others, as they would not have others do unto you...

"Yes Billy, even bears can be gay, it happen's all the time." No, in nature, it's the exception rather than the rule, and HELLOO!!??? Human's have a more complex brain, and a thing called, "Self-conscious Awareness."
always gonna be a moron, (or a so-called, "EXPERT") who uses the, "Animals are gay too." argument No, only humans are gay, but we can all stick things in places they we're not intended, and by all means, be my guest.

I do love transvestites......

Rumor: Al Gore to Endorse Obama (Election Talk Post)

choggie says...

No mystery, that a tool would be used with another to achieve an end result-Gore is a mouthpiece like Obama, two peas as it were.

Gore is a hollowman, just like Obama-No agenda or vision of his own, he's a Beltway lamprey, Obama is the Uncle Tom Boy Friday of all the special interest that got him where he is today....poised to be inserted into the mainframe of US Government, so the script of the Elite can be eloquently delivered, to the braying masses.

People, people. Can you see the forest while standing on old growth?? This shit has been systematic, ever since Ike's farewell address-To say anything about these cretins than the inconvenient truth, is verbal masturbation on a grand scale.
Can we use Obama as a decoy to hunt for Reptiles???

So...my entire hyped up plan has been sidetracked, Just today I accepted a full time job at Mahalo.com. It's poised to be a google killer, and what I earn will solve a lot of my problems.

But it creates others...For now the videosift idea is going to have to be put on the back burner. Since posting this I've read tons of supporting emails, I can't thank you all enough, if I was crazy I would print out the emails and paste them all over my walls with baby blood. If I was crazy.

Needless to say, I need to redraft the idea that I meant to present in this post. The new job is shift work, and the third freelance gig I'm juggling...Fuck I should have just kept on watching TV eh.

The idea will have to modified but I don't really want to give up on it. Basically, I wanted to give Interested Sifters access to the big and crazy AOL audience that I'm currently blogging for, by featuring posts from the Sift on AOL. There are hundreds of important political, cultural, religious, scientific clips that need to be posted for this huge audience.

I wanted to sponsor a contest that will allow me to repost Interested Sifters blog posts from Videosift onto AOL. In return for the work of writing, I offer the sifter a prize and a donation from myself to the sift.

Ergo.

By participating in a contest on the sift, You win a prize and earn the sift some cash.

Awesome Ron Paul smackdown on Fox moderator cheapshot

blankfist says...

This is great! Aside from Fox News using damning questions toward Ron Paul's campaign (the whole electability thing came with quite the audience uproar), the importance of this video is RP's question poised as a comment which would probably stump any candidate on the left or right. Here's what he said: "Let me see if I get this right. We need to borrow 10 billion dollars from China. And then we give it to Musharraf, who's a military dictator, who overthrew an elected government, and then we go to war, we lose all these lives promoting democracy in Iraq."

It's simple truths like that which keep us on the right path. I feel we lose sight too quickly with smaller details of elections, such as it being a personality contest instead of an earnest election of ideas.

New Orleans Protesters Pepper Sprayed and Tasered

quantumushroom says...

Yesterday, in New Orleans, protesters stopped the planned demolition of dilapidated public housing units at the B. W. Cooper public housing complex. Today, fresh from this success, protesters are poised to march on City Hall to stop other planned demolitions. The Housing Authority of New Orleans has announced plans to demolish four public housing developments in New Orleans and replace them with mixed income neighborhoods. The demonstrators are opposed to these demolition plans and believe it is part of a conspiracy to prevent poor African Americans from returning to New Orleans.

In contrast, the re-development of these units will benefit the former occupants of these housing projects. Creating units that offer modern amenities, less dense living conditions and a mix of inhabitants is preferable to the situation that existed in B.W. Cooper and the other housing projects in New Orleans. Prior to Katrina, housing projects were characterized by a high crime rate, gang activity, a thriving illegal drug trade, prostitution and filth.

To see how a redevelopment can be done correctly people should investigate the former St. Thomas housing projects, which are now the River Gardens neighborhood and a new Walmart store. It is a vast improvement over the situation that existed previously and should serve as a model for the redevelopment in many of these other projects.

Unfortunately, instead of moving forward and providing hope to residents, professional protesters and experienced agitators succeeded in shutting down the B.W. Cooper demolition last night. Now, this same group wants to thwart the demolition plans at three other housing developments.

In reality, none of the previous residents of these public housing developments have a “right” to return. Residents lived in these facilities courtesy of the taxpayers of the United States. They did not own these units. Instead the units are owned by the federal government and the people of this country.

All of these facts are disregarded by the professional protesters who came in to New Orleans from other states, carrying signs and yelling at work crews hired to do a job that had been approved several years ago. Yesterday, at the B.W. Cooper protest, license plates were spotted from Ohio, Kentucky and Massachusetts. Who are these individuals? What stake do they have in New Orleans? They have the luxury to come into town and protest and then leave and not have to face the crime and trash that characterize the housing projects.

*nominating from days back, dotdude, as interim moderator, or whtevrthrfck that means, and to go and get me another one of these (points to vodkaand blueberrypomegranite thing)and for the best shots so far, well, you gotta do bettter than the crowd pleasing midget, who has reserve bigger than the one Gore sold, and the missle silo on e-bay with no bids and who can guess why, not to mention the flagrant abuse of easy to imagine, proper decorum, I am having a rollicking time so far, and there are those to my right and left left, who no doubt prepare before a job interview, by taping an adolescent's tee tee, in a prophylactic, to their inner thigh, hoping for the best, and a cute manager, boss, or overling....I keep the thought-gathering finger poised upon a period, always, thank you ladybug, ellipsis, is what it's called, and like all grammer, easily abused.....
