Having worked at Walmart doing oil changes, and another tire/lube place, I wouldn't say it's super easy to do on your own, especially with newer cars. Most newer cars have a a large skid plate that is a pain in the ass to remove. Ford makes their especially difficult as the skid plate is full, so if you are working in a pit, it's very hard to get to all the screws (usually Torx bits)... Many others are using skid plates under the car too, though many have access panels to the drain plug area and the oil filter area (oddly enough one of them, I think it was Mazda, had an access panel for the oil filter, but it was flipped as if installed backwards, but then the drain plug panel wouldn't be correct, so very odd design for awhile)... Sadly most of them seem to be moving to full skid plates as well. My favorites were the GM Ecotech type, where it has a canister filter near the top, drain the oil, open the canister (tool is cheap enough too), close the drain, replace the filter, tighten everything up and add 5 qts (though one of them took a slightly different amount).

That said, if you don't mind crawling under the car on a ramp, it isn't overly difficult. It is a very simple process.

I've learned from working those places. Ford's full skid plates suck, and sadly they seem to be joined by others. (Skid plate is apparently required for proper cooling, and I'd guess it also helps improve gas millage). Chrysler tends to strip, both the pan and the nut... Chrysler also has a long standing problem with lug and lug nuts.... GMs are okay for that sort of stuff (oil, tires, etc)... I didn't like doing tires on European cars as they use that odd lug stud instead of a lug/nut combo, which makes for a pain in the ass to remove and put the wheel back on the car (I can't imagine having to do that in the rain or snow on the side of the road, lug/nut combos makes so much more sense). Toyota can be a pain in the ass as they are moving to a thing that requires a very special custom cup to remove the filter housing...

EDIT to add: I also didn't know anything when I first started at Walmart... the advantage there over the other place was no upselling other services. Now if a car required Synthetic (newer GMs a few Toyotas mostly) then we would have to sell that oil change rather than the cheaper one for liability reasons, but we didn't check all the other stuff and didn't care... now if we say something dangerous we'd let the owner know, but otherwise... Now the other place we did check the other fluids and the managers would try to upsell services.

That a place like this exists is more proof positive that, in many places, the 'good cop' simply does not exist at all. If they did, they would be working hard to expose and close this place over any other criminal investigation they might have on their plate, but instead the entire force works hard to hide what happens here. That makes them all kidnappers, brutal thugs, liars, thieves, false imprisoners, and simply evil people in my eyes...each and every person that's employed by the police force(s) that use this place, or the methods exposed, because there's no way a 'good cop' could either not know about it (willful blindness to it makes them bad cops), or could accept it (turning a blind eye to this institutional terrorism makes them a bad cop)...and since there's absolutely NO cop publicly exposing it, they're ALL guilty. Every one. 100%.

The number plates are 163, Samara Oblast (Самарская область) near the Kazakhstan border. I don't know whether this is normal there, but I do know a guy who drives like that here in Australia.

'Deck' may be over the top. Putting myself in his shoes, at the time, it may have seemed intentional. He just got up and kept going which seemed odd. I'm sure I would have asked the dude what had happened. In retrospect, after seeing the whole video, I'd be pretty pissed that this idiot is tooling along on his segway apparently not competent to operate it (and couldn't he have just walked along with the camera?). It's about as careless as texting while driving. I'm not sure if Usain Bolt is still winning races, but the legs this guy ran into are what puts food on his plate. So yes, I'd be pretty pissed.

As I said before, the US is a unique nation. We grant our people rights that no other nation before or since would consider. It has worked for us so far and I for one would not trade these rights to live in any other country.

I don't think we will need to rebel against our government or that the world is going to come to an end tomorrow. I do think that having an armed citizenry does prepare us for any situation and also does provide another check and balance for our government, should it ever try to deprive us of our freedom.

In any case, as screwed up as we may be, we are still the shining light. Even if we are Rome in decline, we are still Rome until another country is willing to step up to the plate. People still flock to us for the freedoms and chances that they can't get anywhere else in the world.

If vegans are getting into arguments with you about whether their food is healthier than yours, well, maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong. I listen to my buddy extolling the benefits of his paleo diet. If he's quick about it, I don't see the harm, whether he's right or not. If he won't shut up about it, or tries to push it on me, he's being a jerk. It sounds like you might have met some vegans who are jerks. So have I.

I also don't think your final question was genuine. You've clearly thought about this long enough to see how avoiding animal products reduces the amount of mistreatment. If you don't think it's important, or you don't think it's worth it, that's fine. The population of dairy cows is large enough that the 1-2million vegans in this country certainly affects how many are bred and subjected to the treatment they receive.

But telling me I shouldn't want meat is just bizarre. It should be pretty clear by now that I'm a vegan because I object to needlessly killing or mistreating animals, and try to reduce that number. I'm not offended by eating meat, just what has to happen to get it on my plate. If Nike used child slave labor to make its shoes, and I didn't approve of child slave labor, would you criticize me for buying another brand of shoes because I "shouldn't want shoes?" Meat tastes great. I don't like killing animals. There is no contradiction between those two sentences.

It sounds like your issue is with the "tells you all the time" part of your analogy, and that's tricky. On the one hand, people who sermonize and try to vilify your decisions are being jerks. On the other hand, if a cause is important enough, it's clearly worth being a jerk. It's a sliding scale. Civil rights campaigners were moralizing jerks too, but in hindsight, we mostly feel they were justified. The inquisition, less so. Some animal activists feel they fall reasonably well on the scale.

There's a long history of people trying to make other lead moral lives. And there's a long history of people getting various degrees of pissed off about it. I would encourage you to tell individuals who actively annoy you to stuff it, and to just relax about the rest of us.

And if you want moralizers to leave you alone, I'd also encourage you not to call their moral choices "stupid" on the internet. Counter-intuitive, I know, but give it a try.

It's all up to Francois Hollande now. Matteo Renzi is reasonably angry at how Germany is handling this shit, and France + Italy might just be enough to rein in the hardliners in Germany/Finland. If Hollande doesn't go into open opposition against Schäuble et al tonight, Grexit becomes inevitable.

Luckily though, my neighbours found some fitting stone plates at an abandoned(?) house to finally finish a spot in their backyard. I'll be over there the rest of the afternoon, pounding those plates into place with a rubber mallet.
