I like Mike Tyson. When he was in his boxing-prime, he was an example of a raw, animal of a human being. Today he's like the abused pit-bull turned awesome and loyal family dog, and though that analogy might sound kind of like a put-down, I totally don't mean it that way. Rough life -> amazing recovery. Much respect to the man.
I hope he lives a long, happy life and doesn't rape anyone else.

Interesting that A10anis keeps citing "the data and statistics", and yet hasn't cited a single datum or statistic. Although completely unrelated to knowledge of dog attacks, his shocking ignorance of exercise physiology (the relationship between long duration aerobic exercise and muscle catabolism is pretty well established -- exhaust your Glucose stores, and your body starts breaking down muscle and fat to keep your body moving) doesn't help his case much.

I haven't studied the "inherent violence" of the American Pit Bull Terrier to any great extent, so without any actual data, who knows whether or not they truly are "inherently violent". What I can say is that there are a number of breeds that are commonly mistaken for the Pit Bull, and dog attacks by any breed that vaguely looks like a Pit Bull often get called a "Pit Bull Attack" in the media. I have never owned a Pit, but my interactions with the breed suggest that they are very mellow and gentle: the polar opposite of, say, the highly strung, yappy, and territorial Chihuahua. The difference however is that if you piss a Chihuahua off it's not going to be able to do much to hurt you, whereas an angry Pit Bull can kill you. Of course, this is all just conjecture from anecdote, but until someone actually posts some data, that's all we have to go on.

Maybe you should reconsider just what "succinct" means, before you start insulting people who disagree with you.

The entire thrust of your comment was an implication that it's perfectly reasonable to outlaw pit bulls. And you're wrong, it's as simple as that. public flogging or pillorying the people who abuse them, and make that action widely known, and you'd have a lot few abused dogs who are vicious (of any breed).

It would be really tedious picking apart your comment in full. Suffice it to say you demonstrate that you have no clue regarding animal psychology. A couple of points though; Pit bulls, as with ALL fighting dogs were bred for, guess what, fighting. And, though any animal can "turn," fighting dogs have a higher propencity to attack with no warning, which is why so many countries have banned them. You say that you "established dominance" with force (wrong). However, just because you are the alpha, it does NOT apply to other people. I don't suggest you get a child to take its bone away. Dogs, you should know, have a heirarchy structure. Finally; your wife was, you say, maulled? Circumstances? Your son was bitten so the dog was "chained up?" You were attacked by an otherwise docile horse? Well, you ask, what does this prove? My friend, it goes a long way in demonstrating that you, and yours, should keep away from animals.

An over the top analogy, but the assault rifles that people are clamoring to get banned are nothing like the rambo video he keeps showing. He then goes on to say people should be able to own rifles for hunting....those rifles are essentially the same as the "assault rifles" ur trying to ban minus the fancy looks and MAYBE the size of the clip.

Gun control supporters would gain a lot more traction if they just learned more and stopped sensationalizing things. Ultimately it just makes people who are in the middle or gun supporters dismiss the message.

Firstly, looks as if from the description that the animal was owned by someone who like many dog owners in general, regardless of breed, fail to consider before taking on the responsibility of pet ownership; Before taking on the care and control of a breed as predictable as a pit bull they might have looked to the future when the dog was an adult what they were in for. Most people make emotional decisions when choosing a pet. Oh~Quite certain that it is illegal to own a Pit or Rottweiler in the city limits of Denver.
Most insurance companies require a special rider for owners of certain breeds as well-the rates are higher. That this choggie took on the responsibility would suggest that instead of having the animal abused by another idiot owner (notice The blame be directed NOT at the canine?) instead it be humanly cared-for and exercised, in a fenced yard. The dog also looks well-fed (no collar though).
Regardless of the situation, I hear the above argument many times, usually evoking some tragic situation where some ghetto-raised Pitbull has mauled someone. Again, who is to blame, the careless owner or do you simply solve the problem by eliminating the breed? I tend to agree with the breeders: Eliminate the idiot factor~Humans too ignorant to have the dog.

Another A**hole with a fighting dog. How many more adults, children, and dogs need to be savaged before dogs that were, primarily, bred for fighting, are banned. Horrific incidents involving them are all over the net and news almost weekly. And before someone says; "I have one with a sweet nature," then you are a responsible owner, no doubt like the woman whose dog savaged her grand-daughter. Her comment was; "He was so gentle, I have no idea what happened." Obviously, any dog can snap, and any dog can be made viscious, but when a dog is inherently a fighter, and when -Be honest- the vast majority who have these dogs do not have them as a loyal companion, but have them for status, intimidation, and protection, the attacks will continue. I have a Tamaskan. He is a big powerful dog but everyday I come across pit bull type dogs who go nuts to get at him. I can only pray, as I pass, that their leads don't snap.

Looks more to me like they're making fun of the fact that other people THINK he's cool. It's a good ad though. I really do think a lot of people out there - particularly in the left-coast media - literally get twitterpated when they think about Obama. You can see it in how they talk to him and act around him. It's pathetic. The same guys who rightfully and eagerly went after Bush2 like Pit Bulls just bend over and sigh, "Am I clenching too hard for you, Mr. Preezy?" like Chris "Tingles" Matthews.

There's no shortage of stuff to hammer Obama about. The problem is that any time Mr. Preezy gets any sort of challenge of any kind to his rigid worldview you can just SEE him tighten up and become angry, bitter, and resentful. Then his standard modus operandi is to say, "The experts all agree with me..." (even though they don't) and stonewall with a bunch of jibber-jabber. Then when it is over good luck on that guy ever getting any sort of interview again. Obama's admin is notorious for dictating to the media what questions they're allowed to ask, how they ask them, and what to talk about. Obama isn't cool. He's a narcacisst and arrogant to a level rarely seen.

It would really amuse me if from now on every single person in the media, government, and everyone else stopped calling him "Mr. President" and just called him "The Preezy". To be honest, that's about what he deserves.

To be blunt, there is very little an undergrad degree offers anyone nowadays except if they do a Science degree. I know a lot of liberals say, "Well - you get LIFE experience of being 'exposed' to new ideas and concepts and people..!" I'll just go ahead and say it. Bullcrap. Unless you're in engineering, computer science, math, pre-med, or some other technical degree there is nothing in college worth $50,000 in debt. The standard 4-year college 'experience' today is very little more than an adult play-pen where you fritter away a few years bridging between high school and adulthood. Increasingly, more people are ending up with nothing to show for it except a hammered liver and $50,000 in debt.
