The Failed War on Cancer

coolhund says...

As so often it boils down to society.
No mention of stress induced cancer (studies say its up to 70% of all cancers - and also explains why cancer rates are rising, even though we live healthier than ever before), which would be easily fixable by changing society.
Also no mention of the wonder drug DCA that is extremely promising on animal tests, but doesnt get much funding or interest because nobody owns the rights on it and it cannot be patented and thus money cant be made with it and the pharmacy industry even tries to block it since they would lose tons of money, even go bankrupt, if it really worked, ultimately proving that society is again the culprit.

Hypocrisy... Im seriously getting sick of it.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren on Republican Shutdown Threats

Lawdeedaw says...

But where does that stop? Should insurance be able to deny pregnancy aid if it is not high risk? (You could argue fuck yes! Pregnancy is a woman's choice. You want to get pregnant, you get help from the pharmacy down the street! Sonograms? Fuck you.)

What about things to reduce pain like epidural? If they denied that maybe women would stop having babies so don't you think that wise?

Here we go again. You want access to birth control? Go down to the pharmacy and pick some up. Don't make me pay for it. You don't pay for my meds, I don't pay for yours.
Fucking gov't lying toads.

Why Are American Health Care Costs So High?

evilspongebob says...

Pharmac (go look it up) here in NZ has a big part to play in our overall lower health costs for medicines.

It's a crown owned entity that works out what drug is the best for a particular purpose and then says, "hey big pharma wanna have all the NZ'ers get cured of shitty disease x with your magic pill number 4? Well then gives us the generic brand and here's what we will pay." And then drives a sweet deal for all us kiwis.

It's that big of a thing that it's upset all the corporate fuckers that are driving the whole Trans Pacific fuck the little guy Partnership.

Then there is the ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) - It's not perfect by any means. But say for example you are playing football on the weekend and your blow your hamstring, well you rock on up to the local A&E, afterhours or medical centre etc, pay a fee of around $30-50nz, get checked over, if you need xrays/scans these maybe fully subsidised or again you may have to pay up to $50-80, get cheapo drugs from the pharmacy (thanks Pharmac) and go home and put your feet up. You're in the system now buddy!

Now have to put your foot up at home for the next 4 weeks, - what about work? I gotta get paid dog!! Don't worry homie ACC has got your back.

If your claim is approved (they pay first and ask questions later, after all you need to get better) you'll be paid 80% of your income while your at home working on your TV tan! ACC was created for workplace injuries, but falling of the ladder home still gets covered.

ACC works by all employers paying into the scheme via levies based on your wage/salary, also the higher risk of injury the workplace is the higher the levy the employer has to pay.

The pay off for ACC is that no-one is allowed to be sued. The govt will drop the hammer on the company, you get looked after by ACC. This has caused the odd issue here and there but overall. Sweet!

Disclaimer - This may all be a complete bunch of ass, but it's pretty close to the way it is.

BicycleRepairMan says...

Funny stuff, but I'm wondering what he's doing there.. I mean if he's a chemist , why no chemistry (or pharmacy, I can never understand the english chemist/pharmacist naming thing..)? Is he hired as a stand-up comedian? If so, I guess props to the white house for finding the talent..

Peter Kellers video diary released-before killing his family

deathcow says...

"I'm getting to the point where just trying to live, and pay bills and live as a civilian, and go to work, that just freaks me out. It's actually more comfortable for me to think about living here, robbing banks, pharmacies, taking what I want, for as long as I can."

Broked down car and assholes (Talks Talk Post)

BoneRemake says...

@direpickle

Same thing happened to me almost a year ago. In the summer a woman of great age was walking the sidewalk as I went into my car to get some bread from the local bakery, she scratched out " will you give me a ride to the ***** pharmacy "

I could not come up with a decent answer for no, and likewise I did not think a grandma who was grasping for breath and had 1.3 miles left to walk would offer me any grievance. I gave her a ride to the pharmacy so she could pick up her medicine and I drove her home ( which was quite far away for her,not the car)

I still feel great about that, but I guess it boiled down to the threat level. She may of been crazy, but I could stop and get out and call the cops if that happened.

Oh and she would not let me leave without giving me 6 dollars, which I tried to refuse profusely but accepted it as I did not want to offend. I think she was german or some such accent.

The first miracle of Jesus is turning water into really good wine at the wedding feast in Canan. What's more is our lord converted six 20 - 30 gallon stone jars worth! That's like the Costco of the ancient world for wine!! Pretty sure a few people got pretty drunk off of Le Vin Du Jesus that good day.

This is a Christian:
Luke 9:23-25
If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for Me will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?
If you do these things you will not inherit the kingdom of God:
Galatians 5:19-21
Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Everyone is guilty of breaking some of these, but we are to repent and change our ways. The word sorcery in the greek is pharmakeia, which is where we get the word pharmacy. It is specifically referring to drug use, especially as it pertains to idolatry. A Christian does not use drugs receationally, nor approve of their use. It is also violation of federal law to smoke marijuana.

I think you missed the point. I was making a tongue in cheek comment on the fact that this guy looks a lot like the popular interpretation of what Jesus looked like. Not that he endorses drug usage.
However:
Genesis 1:29
Then God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you"

Having a glass of wine is not abusing drugs. It is a sin to be drunk, it is also a sin to drink to get buzzed, but it is not a sin to have a glass of wine with Jesus at the last supper. I don't drink any alcohol, and I don't think anyone should, but there isn't going to be condemnation for drinking one glass of wine. The wine also probably had a very low alcohol content.

Ron Paul, why don't other candidates talk about drug policy?

Auger8 says...

I'm confused by your statement do you think War Crimes and Manslaughter aren't forms of violence that should be prohibited? Why do you lump those things in with self-defense which even nations act on. If some country attacks us should we turn the other cheek. Are you saying War Crimes are acceptable losses.

What Ron Paul is saying is that violent crimes should be prohibited, as in the crimes we already have laws against, like murder, rape, genocide, those things. Instead of giving life sentences to a crack head whose only real offense in trying to escape reality. I'm not saying hard drugs don't sometimes incite violence what I'm saying and what he is saying is that the war of drugs has caused more harm than good it has taken more lives than any other war past or present period.

And for what?! They are still no closer to stopping the flow of drugs in the world than they ever were in fact the flow has increased with billions of dollars lost to underground mafias across the globe. If you legalize it and then tax it the government could make up the national deficit in a single year. The mafias would instantly be put out of business because who would buy something from a street corner dealer when you can just go to a pharmacy or Walmart and buy it legally and for less money too. If you don't believe the war on drugs has failed then turn on your TV and watch the series about Moonshiners in America. If they can't enforce the very original laws of prohibition still to this day we need to stop and really think about an alternative solution to the problem.

>> ^truth-is-the-nemesis:

wait, the only thing we should prohibit is violence? - what about self-defence, manslaughter & war-crimes? those are types of violence but receive lesser or no prison sentencing at all if it can be proved as suitable in a court of law. Paul just makes sweeping generalisations & this is why i dislike libertarianism it doesn't work in the real-world, not all drug offenders are none violent - and hard drug usage also seeps into other crimes so trying to just fit all drug related crime into one neat little box seems a bit fanciful.
Don't just uncritically believe everything Paul feeds you, remember he's a Dr. who does not believe in evolution & thinks that the government should not provide vaccines to people because it's their liberty not to have them. Seriously...

There's a similar scam going on here in Europe, and the worst is that they are being sold... in pharmacies. *überfacepalm*

On the bright side, when I see someone wearing one I know s/he's severely lacking in critical thinking skills. On the dark side: there are a lot of them.
