The World Through a Cat's Eyes - Spy Cat

vaire2ube says...

just waiting for costs to go down even more before attempting this worthy data collection project. Right now there are units you can stick a SIM card in and basically makes it a mobile phone, you can use GPS real time and have the unit text you when its outside set perimeters. You can also call the unit and listen to sounds. No camera though and expensive + needs cell service sub.

Soon, though. I will know all their secrets.

cant find the little unit you can call.. i remember it because of the size.. most pet trackers are dog sized for hunting dogs, etc.

It must have been a european thing, it was on every mobile phone, and on every advert break, at one point there was a number one song that beat coldplay to the top of the chart, chris martin later went onto a talk show to try and demonstrate he was not bitter about being pipped to post by a digital animation, and thus performed a cold play song interspersed with some of the crazy frogs signature noises.

It is at this point where I admit I know too much about the crazy frog , also I must apologise for my acidic tone earlier, I did (and still kinda do) have a stick my arse causing irritation.

The crazy frog, the most faddish meme from the early millenniums, from a time when the word meme didn't even hold currency. It boggles my mind that anyone finds it anything other than annoying.

So glad I could downvote this POS.

Thrilled to have made your day ... my work here is done =oD

AH!I missed that fad ... good to know. Now I understand peoples strong aversion. Thanks for the illumination =o)

No need to apologize ... I'm not very "social network" savvy. It's taking awhile to catch on to things in the relatively short time I've been here on the Sift. It's quite the learning curve and I'm developing a thick skin in the process ... heheh =oO

Without honest comments like yours I might never get a clue, so thanks for helping me out =oD

Amazing Japanese "Tron" Live Stage Show.

FlowersInHisHair says...

Well, it reminds me of Tron. And I think it would be fair to tag it with "tron", as someone doing a tag search for "tron" might be interested to see this, given that it's got lighty-uppy suits and music from the Tron Legacy soundtrack.

Apart from the glowing lights, this actually has seemingly NOTHING to do with tron, the original video doesn't have anything to do with tron anywhere in the wording, and the description is as follows:
"The full version of CM performance was appointed as the mobile phone company by street dance crew WRECKING CREW ORCHESTRA FAMILY representing Japan.
Has been produced in the original costume, control systems, such as the choreography."
Also, as they're working off of a CD or MP3, this is very much not live music.
So, no, not tron. Nochannel Scifi Dance Skillful Music

So you're telling me you don't look at this and think "Tron"? Seriously?

Nope. Same as I don't consider a video like this that essentially has the exact same type of costume on the dancers tron in any way, shape or form.
And regardless of weather or not one looks at this and goes, "Oh yeah, this reminds me of tron" doesn't make it a tribute to tron. Besides the glowing suits, there's nothing even referencing tron. No frisbee, no light cycle, not Master Control Program, nothing. It's just the costume they're wearing for the dance. That's all.
It's like saying that this is a tribute to Jurassic Park.

Animated Logic: Theory & the Precautionary Principle

ghark says...

This appears to be straight up propaganda - the precautionary principle was adopted by the WHO in relation to mobile phone/base station radiation in 2000 to limit the potentially serious risks associated with the radiation. This is a direct attack on that stance, which appears to have been a worthwhile one considering the evidence that has been published since that time in scientific journals. Not all, but some of of that research has found links to various forms of cancer.

Can You Type Faster than Freddie Wong?

direpickle says...

Actually I have to say that typing full words out on a keyboard is incredibly tedious. Seriously, typing in notepad or textedit or word or whatever is way slower than it needs to be.
Text editors need to take a serious look at the innovations that are happening all around them. Look at mobile phones or code editors. Computers these days have spare CPU power to burn, and yet I still have type out the entire word when the app should easily be able to guess the word I want from context and first few letters.

Oh, god, no. NO! FOR GOD'S SAKE NO! Predictive text, autocorrect, and all of that bullshit is the most painful thing about using touchscreen phones.

IBM's predictions for innovation in the next 5 years!

MycroftHomlz says...

I think they got close on 4/5 there.

\>> ^FishBulb:

IBM's predictions for innovation from five years ago:
We will be able to access healthcare remotely, from just about anywhere in the world.
Real-time speech translation—once a vision only in science fiction—will become the norm.
There will be a 3-D Internet.
Technologies the size of a few atoms will address areas of environmental importance.
Our mobile phones will start to read our minds.
