Before people start saying "See I always knew that show wasn't funny, it's just the laugh track." etc...

This show was written and performed in front of an audience. Just like the Wonder Years was filmed to make room for narration. It was designed for that and nothing else. Taking it out of that scenario is what makes it feel very strange.

Yeah, it's hard to imagine that the laugh tracks were once worse than they are now. Still, Night Court always felt a bit like a stage production to me - just a few sets, small cast, etc. The laugh track almost, ...almost, fits.

Yes ... the piano out of a window was a joke too. But seriously, unless you consider a pair of sneakers a vehicle, I don't get your analogy. I'm not bent out of shape over it. Someone should edit this with a slide-whistle and a laugh track.

I 100 percent agree with this analogy. I did not appreciate 3rd rock when it was on though, for age reasons. Recently I was hooked on big bang theory and watched all the episodes after a new found love for the show ( hated it before because of the laugh track ) ; I watch 3rd rock now and I literally say " well this is way better than big bang theory ". This trumps a lot of shows in a lot of ways. But still, that damn laugh track is annoying, but I can now hear past it.

The gags are so funny and obvious, the audience knows when to laugh, so no need.>> ^Trancecoach:
