How to Pour the Perfect Guinness from a Can
I usually pour this way (fully invert the can and just let it flow), but minus leaving the can in the glass. With a standard pint glass you can safely up-end it and pour until empty. No need to clean the can since it's never submersed.
I'm interested to try it this way now and see if there's any difference. For science.
AH-64 Apache helicopter crash in Sharana, Afghanistan
Also reminded me of this sift from awhile ago called "Inverted">> ^ShakeyMcBones:
I'm glad to hear no one was killed. Not to make light of the situation, but that reminded me of seeing new pilots learning the controls in Battlefield 3.
*SiftTalk: Earning a Star Point in VideoSift (Talks Talk Post)
I'm a bit late to the discussion, but thought I'd leave some ideas behind.
Videos with the broadest appeal will, by definition, garner the most attention and votes, and sift quickest. Those with a narrower interest group will naturally have a harder time being seen among the significant number of broadly appealing videos submitted every day. This is currently being compounded by the front page and queue structure, which promote those videos which are heuristically determined to be most popular (hottest, most votes/views, etc.).
I think there is a good idea for a solution already in place - the Recommended page. It doesn't seem to work particularly well, though. I haven't been around much lately, so maybe it's working better now? In any case, heavily promoting the Recommended page and perhaps favoring unsifted videos for recommendations would probably go a long way to helping high quality videos with a narrower interest group be seen by those interested.
Another, somewhat radical, idea is to completely overhaul the channel system and return to something more like the Collectives that were used originally. Get rid of the exceptionally broad channels like Comedy and Music, which are little more than tags anyway. Collectives can be made more active than channels by either limiting the number of collectives one can join, only displaying videos from collectives to which one belongs, encouraging competition among collectives with various contests, etc.
Basically, you need to get as many of the smaller number of people that might be interested in certain videos to actually see them, while at the same time not flooding everyone with every obscure video.
Oh, another thing that might help is inverting the channel filtering logic. Make it an opt-in system instead of an opt-out system. One, that forces users to think about what kind of videos they want to see, and two, it prevents the situation of filtering out, for example, a news story about video game legislation in Congress because you have the Video Games channel filtered out. Channel filters might be the most powerful and underutilized tool on the site for focusing users attention on the videos they'll be most interested in.
Incredible Frisbee Catch - Speed Boat Catch
sweet!

i play a lot of ultimate and frisbee golf, and seeing things like this make me hope for the ever-increasing popularity of these fun and easy sports
my best catch ever (not in a game) was in 3ft of surf near a beach in thailand - a group of us were practicing our 'H' catches (going horizontal), and for one perfect throw skimming right about the water's surface, i inverted to a handstand underwater and caught the disc with my feet
unfortunately, no video
12 Year Old Music Prodigy - Greatest talent in 200 years??
I'd say that's more an indictment of the schooling he's received than a statement of his abilities as a composer. (Symphony No. 5, to me at least, is more or less indistinguishable from some of the symphonies written by the "great" composers of the last century or so.)
Sadly, the classically harmonious qualities (including the "progression," the "building of emotion," the storytelling) that many of us appreciate in, say, Mozart or Beethoven or Chopin are no longer in vogue (and haven't been for quite some time). Contemporary composition—and the same could be said of most contemporary painting, sculpture, writing, et cetera—aims more for fragmentation, disruption, and discord. The audience isn't meant to feel harmony; we're meant to be dislodged.
This could become a pretty serious rant, I guess, but I'll hold back. I will say, though, that the brief clips of his early compositions (5:52–6:12) sounded quite pleasing to me, if a little imitative. And the part where he inverted the Beethoven sonata was pretty darn cool. (It reminded me, in a roundabout way, of the scene in Amadeus where Mozart plays the piano while lying upside down.)
>> ^TheFreak:
Try listening to Jay Greenbergs Symphony no 5. It's horrible.
It's an unorganized cacophany. One moment it sounds every bit like an action movie score then immediately it swings the other way and you'd think you were listening to the music from a 30's cartoon. There's no rhyme or reason behind any of the sounds you hear, no progression, no building of emotion, no story being told, no subtlety or purpose...just great big sloppy swipes of an oversized lyrical paintbrush.

Koi Fish Skyscraper in a Koi Pond
>> ^Drachen_Jager:
Not really, it would be inverted. The pressure would be negative, causing the swim bladders to swell beyond their normal size and the air within to be more buoyant.

>> ^Drachen_Jager:
I guess the water pressure accounts for them all congregating at the top. Question is, can they get out again? I can't imagine their swim bladders evolved to be able to deal with a situation like that.
Actually, the pressure differential is
the samebarely different as a pond the same distance deep.somebody failed physics 101.
geez! the pressure in the column is exactly the same as in the pond!

The funny thing about the video, though, is that Freddiew pulls *back* on the stick (ie. towards himself/down) intending to control the helicopter to go up. Therefore, it's Freddiew who is actually the one playing inverted and Brandon is just an unwitting scapegoat for Freddiew's mistake. Oops! (:

My brain cant remember which way I normally play. Both ways work fine. Non-inverted works slightly better for me. Also I noticed virtualbox would randomly invert my mousewheel sometimes, so I would scroll documents/code the wrong way for a few times, then the brain would adjust and be fine with an inverted mousewheel. Then it switches back some random time later... and I go through it again.

When you look up, does your head go forward or backward?
Inverted = real life, forward = down, backwards = up. Non-inverts are obviously mutants who need to be killed with fire...
This is a sideshow anyway, when's he going to tackle ESDF > WASD. Fuck people who don't touch type yo!

Inverted is just weird, like writing with your left hand.
Hey! I'm left handed and play inverted! This will only served to fuel my hatred of you right handed monsters! One day... you all just wait...

There is only one way to play. Inverted.
Any other way is just called losing.

i never understood why controllers never had invert/normal switch instead of burying it 4 layers deep inside of menus. changing back and forth is the quickest way to slow down a game amongst friends.
