The Compassion of Dr. Ron Paul

GeeSussFreeK says...

>> ^ghark:

There is no creator, it doesn't take compassion to deliver a child if that is your job, and the doctor's that wouldn't care for her didn't do so because either they were assholes, or had their hands tied by your pathetic healthcare system.

"Endowed by our creator" is the way our Constitution and Declaration of Independence is phrased, so you have to take that into consideration in the description. That kind of language is part of the language of natural rights as well, which dates back further than just our constitution. We can't pretend to know why they were refused service, but back in the 70s, our healthcare system wasn't quite so infiltrated by big business.

The Stills - 'Gender Bombs'
http://youtu.be/fvweWKhVM7A

(lyrics)
"Brains, on a brick wall, when gender bombs would fall
The sorted way allotted phrases infiltrate your skull

Images are strong, impulses are strong
And logic will break your heart forever, be brave

Massive suicide dreams
The fear of war and love

The girl will scold you
The girl will...

The carcass bleeding gaming for self ten loves in a row
The drunken Sunday evening's would just be in your way, no

Massive Suicide dreams
The fear of war and love

The girl will scold you... [8x]"

Sure, Barack and I chat all the time about things.

I guess my working model for predicting what Obama does is based on two hypotheses:

1. Obama is really telling us what he wants to see happen in his speeches. He wants to do what he can to address the progressive agenda because he sees it as his moral duty.

2. Obama is, contrary to his speeches, an uber-pragmatist.

It's the second part that gets activist lefties mad at him. He's not interested in waging war on the oligarchs who run the government from their boardrooms, he wants to try to reach out and show them that the progressive agenda is good for both the 99% and the 1%.

Similarly, he's not interested in picking a fights he can't win, just to make an ideological point. He unfortunately doesn't think it's his job to try to shift the Overton window with his words and deeds.

I think people who imagine him to have been some sort of anti-progressive infiltrator or turncoat are just being melodramatic, and I really wish they'd stop issuing all these pronouncements about whether Obama is "with us" or "against us."

He's clearly "with us", he's just not a hardline ideologue who makes everything into some showdown of unwavering and conflicting principles.

He prefers to use the inflexibility of others as his argument to the public for supporting him -- he's being more reasonable, after all. It seems to work out okay for him in the polls, but I think he'd be a much more effective President if he made being firmly on the side of doing what's right a higher priority than being reasonable.

Good talk NR. I'm not convinced.... there are cabinet appointments, etc. he's made that make me not trust him, but I am listening. Ob's speech a couple days ago has me wondering you've got a direct line to him or something.

Police Infiltrators and Provocateurs Caught On Tape

i think in one instance of this type of bullshit in canada, the officers were spotted by their distinct shoes...despite attempts to disguise everything else about themselves .. and they were definitely instigating things to get the crowd riled up. it was like, official n shit but i dont wanna look it up. G20 protests was it?? hmmm

Thanks, as a Canadian I find this utterly appalling. I want these guys fired and charged along with anyone above them involved with the event.

This was another one that I just could not believe when I saw it. I thought this kind of thing was below an organization of citizens. But I agree, now I expect it.

Even though this footage is from Canada, this is the way Democracy works. I understand counter-protests and propaganda, and even just plain making-fun-of and harassing people that you don't like. But this covert-infiltration is worse than if the police had just used direct violence. As an American, I would fully support the idea that anyone being guilty of a crime like this, or even caught hiding it, should be tried for treason against their country and punished accordingly.

If you guys really believe any one of these cops wants to be apart of the protest and at the same time is one of the people containing the protest then I urge you guys to encourage these people to step up for an interview. I have a crew that would interview them with immense respect in a heartbeat.

>> ^ChaosEngine:

"One thing is obvious, an undercover cop wearing a political Tee and hanging out in a protest should be unacceptable police procedure for a supposedly democratic society."
Yeah, fuck the cops. They're not allowed be part of the solution. They must not think for themselves. There is no possible way he's there because he believes in the protest and we should absolutely apply the "guilty until proven innocent" principle here.

hpqp says...

It is very possible, as @ChaosEngine points out, that these cops are simply partaking in the protest on their time off. Cops are people too, something a dangerous amount of people prefer to ignore.

That being said, infiltration of opposition movements is one way to stifle them. Here in Switz Nestlé went to court in 2008 for hiring private security agents to infiltrate an anti-capitalist organisation that was writing a report on Nestlé's actions throughout the world (article). This, with the passive complicity of the state police, who knew what was going on and had access to the information being gathered. Needless to say, Nestlé won the court case on legal technicalities.

(on a side note, fuck the black bloc tactics, that shit completely ruins protests' credibility.)

A few years ago I would have been appalled that the police would infiltrate a movement to incite violence or re-direct them. It's un-American.

Today, I expect it. Because as I keep saying. The police are the front line of the Plutocracy.

That is why I wrote that there is no evidence that I see. Regardless, cops walking around with people looking like Black Bloc is very suspicious. The other cop is wearing a very political shirt. If they were undercover... why are they not acting more like under cover cops ie everyday joes? Instead they suggest that they are politically motivated.>> ^entr0py:

Yep, that was definitely a video of some cops walking around and riding bikes without uniforms. Not really the solid evidence of wrongdoing I was hoping for.

Veteran shot in the face by Police at Occupy Oakland

>> ^juliovega914:

I will be genuinely surprised if these protesters remain non-violent for much longer. You cant expect a crowd of angry desperate people to channel Ghandi for long, even without the police lobbing explosives at them.

Good point, but I think it will remain largely non-violent.

Violence on the part of the protesters gives the pigs a justification.

You can bet money that the cops have infiltrated the protesters, and that no small amount of violence can be attributed to them. Agent provocateurs.

Still...if the shit comes down...we're not going to be anybody's punching bag.

I hate to disparage cops, because I have family there...but if that bastard who threw the shock grenade isn't culled...then fuck 'em.
