Pass The Pepper: Social Distancing is Nothing to Sneeze At

I'm thinking this one is actually Heath Robinson, and *british.

I actually found myself laughing out loud a couple times. Pretty impressive for a Rube Goldberg video!

The Joker vs Pennywise. Epic Rap Battles Of History

JOKER - Final Trailer

My_design says...

OK, I am in the minority that hate the recent Batman trilogy. The stand out was Heath Ledger, but even that movie had some serious issues that his amazing performance couldn't fix. That guy was genius. But this...this... This is on a whole 'nuther fucking level. I can't wait to see this. If it is anywhere near as good as these trailers make it look to be it will be amazing. Phoenix just owns the screen in these trailers. You can physically see him metamorphosing into the Joker and even in the trailer it 'feels' real. The way he cuts that laugh off... damn.

I have to say I disagree with him on point 5. I think most of us should have our assholes examined a lot more often.

Hey, it's Movember. Got to shout out for men taking care of their asses, their balls, and their mental heath. Check today... if everything's OK, at least you know what OK feels like.

Other than that, I couldn't agree more.

Bernie Sanders shows support for aims of Jeremy Corbyn

dannym3141 says...

The outcome was astonishing, even i couldn't believe it and i've been campaigning for it since 2015. All of this might be out of date 3 hours after i post it, because things are happening fast.

Theresa May has decided to go into government with the DUP propping her up. If you have kept up in the last 6 weeks or so with all the smears about Corbyn/IRA/Sinn Fein and terrorism, then you should understand that the DUP is basically the *other* side of the irish conflict. They are socially conservative and many of their beliefs fall in line with sharia laws; abortion illegal (including for sexual assault or incest cases), homophobia wrong and harmful to society, creationist beliefs, climate change deniers. That list might have less impact to some in the US but in British politics, it's out there on the fringe, quite extreme.

In a month from tomorrow there will be the July marches in Northern Ireland (and elsewhere in UK), and we already saw a march yesterday where unionists (~DUP supporters) trashed a nationalist pub (~Sinn Fein supporters).

So now consider. Nationalists have been dragged through the dirt by Conservative MPs and in the press; accused of being terrorists in order to smear Corbyn to stop him getting power. Whereas unionists are being courted by the Conservative government, and the press turning a blind eye to the DUP and their connections to domestic terrorism.

The northern irish peace process was a great achievement and still stands despite bad feeling on both sides. Part of the good friday agreement that ensures this peace says that the UK and Irish governments must act as neutral mediators in times of disagreement between factions in NI.

So now it becomes clear why Jeremy Corbyn refused to criticise either the unionists or the nationalists in particular - as a true leader with a fucking brain in his head, he understood that to take sides or score points would be to risk Britain's safety and the safety of communities in NI. The reason people were able to smear him as a terrorist sympathiser and danger to this country is *because* he refused to say or do anything that endangered this country.

And it becomes rather worrying that the tories have risked all of that hard work and all of our safety in order to keep power for just a little bit longer. There are already talks of a legal challenge from nationalists.

The good side to this is that it seems doomed to failure. May's credibility is broken, in the UK and in Europe. The alliance with the DUP almost certainly can't happen or last very long. The only alternative leaders to May would make the Conservatives less popular. Polls that saw this surge coming are predicting now that Labour would do even better if another election happened right now. The last time this happened was Ted Heath, whose minority government did not last long, and Labour took over after a few days, and won an election a few months later.

Austerity is well and truly broken as an ideology.

Oh, and all the talk of "the death of social democracy" in europe was actually the death of triangulating centrists who have become completely alienated from ordinary people. Socialism lives.

*promote A banner day for THE most diligent and deserving Sifter on the entire site! Thank you @eric3579 for all you've done for me personally over my time here. I most certainly wouldn't have lasted past the first few tumultuous, trial by fire, weeks without your kindness and support. The fact that you continue to play a big part in my enjoyment is much appreciated and loved. Just like YOU my friend

Astoundingly catchy song parody @dag ... an earworm for sure. Certainly Tommy Heath would be flattered. And the Chris Murphy badge, as always, is to die for!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Official Trailer 2

artician says...

I have zero interest in this film now. They just tossed a cosplayer into what was shaping up to be an interesting combination of characters.

Also, they obviously went to Eisenberg for the role and said "You can do 'Heath-Ledger-crazy', right?" It just stinks of hoping to re-capture another Joker performance.

Accidentally Meeting Heath Ledger

House Of Dodge

RFlagg says...

How the hell could the Speaker not be an elected member of Congress? I'd guess the Founding Fathers never imagined a situation where that would have to come up. The fact that there are 40 idiots who think compromise is a sign of weakness, and don't want to govern, they want to be cry babies and throw a tantrum until they get what they want, would make me not want the job either. Bridge building between both sides of the isle used to be a good thing. Shutting down the government for said tantrum should be against the Constitution.

Meanwhile side note. From what I understand, Heath's improved the button malfunction as there was an actual malfunction in the real detonation device causing a delay. It likely saved the scene, otherwise we'd have seen him walk out and cut right to the bus driving away, or explosions from other angles until that point anyhow.

Season's Greetings Rube Goldberg Style

top ten chris farley moments

poolcleaner says...

Chris Farley, Elvis Presley, Tupac Shakur, The Beatles (they were all fucked up on various abuses, including physical), Michael Jackson, River Phoenix, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Heath Ledger, John Belushi, Amy Winehouse, Jim Morrison, Biggie Smalls, Gary Coleman...

I don't think Chris Farley is the prime example, but he's on the list.

But... that doesn't mean their works are any less for it. Getting famous for having talent brings reward, but it also blurs the lines and stunts maturity...

Most of these people didn't even make it to 30, or were so fucked up by the time they had hit this milestone, there was nothing they could do; they didn't have the necessary life lessons that guide us by constant evolution of being. Too many rewards and too much pressure with few threshold guardians to intercede. It's a gauntlet.

ChaosEngine said:

None of them. Chris Farley is a prime example of everything wrong with "hollywood comedy".

I've watch 83 seconds of this video, and so far I hate every single aspect of it.
Chris Farley and David Spade are marginally less amusing than finding out you have herpes and Adam Sandler isn't much better.

And then the host says "as per uushe". WTF? you couldn't say "as per usual".

Bigger Pizzas: A Capitalist Case for Health Care Reform

chingalera says...

Which leads me to the drum I've always beat on the issue of heath and happiness in the land of Planet Chaos: The success of the health care anomaly in the U.S. is predicated on a chaotic decline in the overall health of the general population, that's how that machine makes ungodly amounts of money, as a partner-in-crime with insurance (mafiosi-style protection) companies and medical professionals (dealers/cleaners/fixers/hit-men) who, partnered with successful criminals like advertising execs and processed-foods concerns, insure for future generations a steady dose of being continually ill and feeling like they are about to die. Combine these psychotics with keeping peeps too distracted with $(illusion)$ and work to think clearly and the bulk of a country's population addicted to misdirection, newsspeak, and intentional reinforcement of intent and "responsibility" to the programming-arm (television, internet, regulated and controlled media ) of the above-described machine, and you have a bunch of robots thinking that they are about to die who are easily herded into the cattle truck of indentured-for-life, wage-slavery.

The best health care system is one where the majority of the population of a country is relatively healthy up and until the moment of cascading failures associated with time.

The system we have now or any fix, will only work to the benefit of all with a nation of fit people, not fat, lazy, ignorant globs of flesh who are incapacitated through the negative reinforcement described above, and the perpetrators of the same, eliminated....Or, put these criminals in a box or prison or otherwise not allowed to work their evil.

In other words, the United States health care system has been designed to implode upon itself with the criminals who built it, fleeing to their fortified compounds to be protected by dutiful armies and local constabularies, otherwise known as PAID BODY GAURDS.
